SCC2: Week Two, Day Three

Today I CASEd the card shared by Julie Ebersole in Online Card Classes Summer Card Camp 2.

SCC2: Week Two, Day Three

Like Julie, I used a combination of patterned papers from the Studio Calico Sundrifter Collection. I added a bit of twine to the sentiment strip and dry embossed a natural-flecked cardstock for some texture. I found working with the combination of patterned papers to be a bit of a challenge. I followed Julie’s suggestion to take a photo of the elements you have chosen on the card before adhering them.

Unfortunately, the yellow-green feather paper isn’t showing up well in the photo. The paper has more “oomph” in real life.

Penny Black Flutters Meets Dots

Today, I’m sharing a card crafted with two of the new Penny Black’s Creative Dies –  Flutters (51-006) and Dots (51-009) – that I combined for a summer birthday card.

Penny Black Flutters Meets Dots

To begin, I cut a piece of masking paper with the Dots die two times, side-by-side. I rotated the die 180 degrees before cutting with it a second time. I put the mask on white cardstock and used a combination of Distress Inks to color the cardstock. I then cut the dragonflies from the inked cardstock. The circle cutout on the white panel reveals a piece of lighter blue cardstock cut with the Dots die placed over the darker blue card base. To complete the card, I stamped one of the sentiments from the Friendship (30-160) set with Versafine ink.

SCC2: Week Two, Day Two

There were lots of wonderful techniques shown in today’s Online Card Classes Summer Card Camp 2. I chose to CASE Donna Mikasa’s card showing the technique of clear embossing on colored cardstock.

SCC2: Week Two, Day Two

It took me a few tries to find the right combination of cardstocks to match this week’s colors, as well as to work with this technique. I tried a lighter blue and the result was an almost invisible flower! I also arrived at this sentiment after trying something that had a lighter-weight font. The lighter-weight font was lost with the weight of the flowers and leaves.

Supplies: Avery Elle Petals & Stems stamp set & matching die set; Penny Black Moment of Joy; Hero Arts Cup O’ Joe midtone shadow ink; Versamark; Ranger clear embossing powder; Stampin’ Up & Avery Elle cardstock

SCC2: Week Two, Day One

It’s a new week over at the Online Card Classes Summer Card Camp 2, which means new sketches and a new color combination!

I’m sharing a CASE of the card shown by Kristina Werner from today’s lesson. I haven’t made a lot of circle cards, so this was fun to craft.

SCC2: Week Two, Day One

On Kristina’s card, the center circle was stamped onto watercolor paper and inked with Distress Inks. I took a shortcut by stamping onto a patterned paper. Kristina used a different set of MME patterned papers, which I really liked. But if you could see my stash of 6″ x 6″ pads, you’d understand my need to spend some of it down!

Happy Monday!

SCC2: Week One, Day Five

What a week – I’m blown away by the material that’s being presented, as well as talent of teachers, guest artists and fellow classmates in the Online Card Classes Summer Card Camp 2 class!

My card for today’s homework is based on the one shared by Jennifer McGuire.

SCC2: Week One, Day Five

This wasn’t a “one take” card! I made some stamp and color adjustments after my first go. I didn’t have the sentiment stamps that Jennifer used, so I cut apart of the ones in the Truly Appreciated set from Hero Arts. Also Jennifer had machine stitched her vellum overlay on the left hand side. I used a white gel pen to draw fake stitching.

Have a fabulous weekend!
