Sunny Days Cat

The moment I saw the Sunny Days stamp set, I knew I wanted it! And when Elizabeth Allan posted this incredible card, I knew which image I wanted to start with! I just love this cat.

Sunny Days

This card, which is just over 3″ around, took me several tries using watercolor pencils. I learned something important about Inktense pencils, which are the watercolor pencils I’ve been using – the colors are permanent once you go over them with water. In other words, when you add water, Inktense produces ink not watercolor paint. So, I used Prismacolor pencils for the fur, because I wanted to be able to work the color more than once. The fins, sunglasses and beach towel, however, are colored with the Inktense pencils. I stamped the inside of the card with the “A Sunny Hello” sentiment from the set.

Wishing you a “Sunny Day.”

Pinspired Challenge #12

Welcome! It’s time for another Pinspired Challenge. The photo is for you to interpret anyway you want. Be inspired by the colors, the style, the theme – it’s up to you!

This challenge is sponsored by SP & Company who are offering the winner two in-stock stamp sets of choice from their online store.

For my card, I chose an SP & Company stamp that I colored with Distress inks and Memento markers. I was inspired by the combination of the blue and the red, as well as the outdoor theme, from the image.  I paired the beach girl with an SP& Company sentiment stamp.

Pinspired Challenge #12

Now, it’s your turn. Head on over to the Pinspired Challenges blog to see the creations from the rest of the “Pin Heads” and find out the details for playing along. Three runner ups will be chosen and win a “Pin Pal” badge for their blog. A winner, who will also be chosen by the “Pin Heads,” will win a “Pin Perfect” badge for their blog along with the prize from SP & Company. We can’t wait to see your creations!

Mimi at Play

This past weekend, I took time off from cardmaking to watercolor some of the images from the Penny Black Mimi at Play set with Distress ink pads and markers. I find that I need to color the images several times before I’m happy with my results!

Penny Black Mimi at Play

I paired Mimi with a sentiment from the Friendship set and a die-cut window. To cut out that area between her toy horse and the rocker, I cut off the rocker, cut out the paper, and then reattached the rocker with dimensional tape. 🙂
