Spellbinders December Card Kit – Winter Wishes

Hello! Today, I am sharing cards created with the Spellbinders December 2018 Card Kit. This kit is jam-packed with dies, stamps, embellishments, patterned paper, cardstock, card bases, and envelopes. Use the kit to create Christmas cards, as well as, cards for the New Year and early winter months. The color palette is fantastic and the patterned papers coordinate beautifully!

First up, let’s look at the cards I created with the polar bear die contained in the set.

To begin, I die-cut and embossed the bear using white cardstock included in the kit.
I die-cut the scarf from copper foil included with the kit.
I heat-embossed snow from the kit’s stamp set with white embossing powder on black cardstock contained in the kit, which I then cut with a Spellbinders circle die.
I combined the copper foil and two of the kit’s patterned papers for the card background.
I heat-embossed a sentiment from the kit’s stamp set with copper embossing powder, and cut it with a Spellbinders circle die.

For my next card, I combined a die-cut sentiment with the polar bear.

I die-cut and embossed the bear using cardstock included in the kit (this bear is cut from a cream colored cardstock so that it will stand out on the card base, which is white).
I die-cut the scarf from light-blue cardstock included in the kit.
I die-cut the sentiment from copper foil. I also die-cut the sentiment from white cardstock, and adhered the two layers together to create additional depth.
I die-cut the snowflakes from the same cardstock as the scarf.
I ran a strip of the included glitter washi tape along the bottom of the card base to create a ground.

I also created two cards using just the Card Kit Extras. These took only a few minutes to make!

On my final card, I combined die-cut flowers and greenery, die-cut snowflakes, and a sentiment created with the set’s alpha letters. To spotlight the die-cut flowers and foliage, I cut light-gray patterned paper with a Spellbinders circle die, and again from vellum in the next size larger.

Hello Bluebird Die-cut Holiday Card

Hello! Today I am sharing a CAS holiday card created with the Hello Bluebird Holly and Pine Die set. I originally thought of putting together a card in which I artfully arranged the pieces, but instead, I arranged the pieces behind a gift box.

Using the Holly and Pine Die set, I cut the bow from red glitter paper, the greenery from solid green paper (included in a patterned paper pad), and the pinecones from solid brown cardstock. I created the wrapped paper box and the card background with patterned paper. I cut the Avery Elle sentiment (retired) with a Tim Holtz/Sizzix tag die and added it to the glitter bow with cross-stitch floss.

This card allowed me the opportunity to use up some of my enormous pile of patterned paper!

It’s Lovely Weather for a Sleigh Ride

Hello! Today, I am sharing another CAS holiday card using the Tim Holtz Mini Holidays 5 stamp set. As I mentioned in this post, I have had this set for years but hardly ever used it!

I wanted to recreate a sleigh ride on snowy hills (the inspiration being the song “Sleigh Ride”). To create the background, I stamped the greeting in Stampin’ Up Real Red multiple times with my stamp positioner . I heat-embossed the sleigh stamp with Ranger Black Sparkle embossing powder and cut the panel with an oval die. I cut a slightly larger oval with a stitched oval die from brushed silver cardstock to mat the image.

Once I had almost everything assembled, I realized I needed to add some snow! I die-cut a slope to fit just under the stamped sleigh and horses that I then cut with the oval die. I also added small die-cut snowflakes.

Tim Holtz Classic Christmas – Fast + Easy

I have been attempting to be more mindful on stamp purchases this season, and to that end, I have been going through supplies I already own before purchasing new ones. I pulled out the Tim Holtz Mini Holidays 5 set to create a CAS and traditional Christmas card that took just minutes to create.

Bonus – I used patterned paper from my enormous stash!

FA LA LA – Ten-Minute CAS Christmas Card

Hello! Today, I am back with another ten-minute CAS Christmas card. I recently shared a card with the same design here. This time, I created my background with the Echo Park Winter Pines stencil (discontinued) and changed the sentiment to “FA LA LA.”

To begin, I stenciled the background on to Stampin’ Up cardstock. While the background dried, (technically this card took longer than ten minutes since the background had to dry), I cut the sentiment with the Lawn Fawn Cole’s ABCs die set from red cardstock. I adhered the sentiment to a rectangle cut with a die in the Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Rectangle Stackables set.
