CASology Wood – Smore Fun

Today, I’m sharing a card that I’m linking to the CASology Challenge. The theme is wood and the cute card by Megan inspired mine. When I think wood, I think camping, and when I think camping, I think of S’mores!

I stamped the S’mores in a stack using a post-it note to mask the layers. I colored the images with a variety of Copics in the E5X series. I’m really enjoying Copic coloring with the Gina K Pure Luxury cardstock. It makes a big difference in the blending. The woodgrain card panel was created with an Amuse Studio texture plate.

You Drive Me Wild

Today, I’m sharing a “just for fun” card using the Lawn Fawn “Happy Trails” stamp set and matching die cut.

YouDriveMeWild

I haven’t Copic-colored for a long time and practiced my coloring on the cars. I used Gina K Design’s Pure Luxury cardstock, on the recommendation of some Stamp Nation members, and I definitely liked the results. I used color combinations from Sharon Harnist. Her Copic FAQ page is a fabulous resource!

Hello Sunshine

While I was crafting my card as a guest designer for Lawnscaping Challenge Number 83, I created another summer-themed card.

LFWatermelon

Lawnscaping Challenge Number 83 is all about using heat or dry embossing on your project.  I heat embossed the watermelons and the ant. The watermelons are colored with Copic markers. I kept the background simple with bright-colored, solid cardstock.

Have you played along yet? There’s a prize of a $25 gift certificate to Simon Says Stamp! Head on over to the Lawnscaping Challenge to enter! You have until  Wednesday, June 11th, 2014 to submit your entries!

Hollyhock Bouquet

In most cases, I create cards with the end in mind, or at least a vague idea. Such was not the case with this card, which grew to be quite tall!

ImpressionObsessionHollyhocks

My inspiration for this card comes from Dina Kowal. She’s both a designer for Impression Obsession, as well as a member of their design team. She shared a card recently combining the Hollyhock and Mason Jar dies.

I cut white cardstock with the Hollyhock die several times,  and colored the flowers with Copics. I’ve never colored die cuts with Copics before, but I have to say it’s certainly easy and you can get the colors you want! I used the Mason Jar die to cut a piece of patterned paper that I colored with a Copic to add shading along the sides. I added a shadow under the mason jar with an Amuse Studios set. The sentiment comes from the Hero Arts “All Occasion Messages” set. The sentiment says “Hello Friend.” I simply cut it in two, as I find myself frequently needing a little sentiment to fit onto tiny tags (this tag was cut with a punch). The background paper is Strathmore 140lb coldpress watercolor paper. For this card, I wanted something off-white with a little bit of texture. I buy the Strathmore paper in a big pad and cut it down to size.
