Three in a Row – Halloween Card

Hello! I can’t get enough of the DCWV Happy Halloween patterned paper. For this CAS card I used several of the patterns with a combination of die-cuts.

Three in a Row - Halloween Card

The three-circle frame is a retired die (Peek-a-Boo Trio) from My Favorite Things (one of the first dies I ever bought). I used the SugarPea Hocus Pocus set to cut the witch’s hat and broom. I used the Spellbinders Haunted Manor set for the bats. I decided to use a sentiment from the patterned paper for the center window.

Two Takes on a CAS Halloween Scene

Hello! I am sharing two CAS Halloween-themed cards using the same two products – Penny Black’s Layered Scene die set and Hero Arts Ghostly Greetings stamp set – and same design. I’ve just switched the colors.

I recently reorganized all of my cardstock by color, so it was easy to compare oranges and purples for the cards. I didn’t want the purple to be too dark, given that I was stamping the sentiment with black ink. I used Bazzill Gummy Bear for the purple and SU Pumpkin Pie for the orange. I considered teal as well, but the purple just felt right! I used the largest die in the Lawn Fawn stitched rectangle die set to cut the card background. I like the finished edge it gives.

I previously shared cards (non-Halloween) with the Penny Black Layered Scene here. I just couldn’t resist using the dies for a spookier scene.

I’ve used the Hero Arts Ghostly Greetings set time and again for the past several years. It’s now retired, but I’ll probably never get rid of it!

Spellbinders Haunted Manor

Hello! Today I am sharing a CAS Halloween card created with Spellbinders supplies.

Spellbinders Haunted Manor

  • I cut the bats and manor from Black Licorice cardstock with the Haunted Manor set.
  • I cut the Eek sentiment and the ghost with this month’s Small Die kit – “Eek-A-Boo.”
  • I used a circle die to cut the moon. I backed the ghost’s eyes and the openings on the manor with cardstock.
  • I added the elements to a background dry-embossed with the Inspire folder.

Here’s what I like about this card:
It’s created entirely from die-cuts. I like the bold colors with the black and white; I’ve been using a lot of teal for fall- and Halloween-themed projects this year. I like the dry-embossed background for subtle texture.

Freshly Made Sketches #401

Hello! I am playing along with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week. I really like sketch challenges as it forces me to think of new ways to use my supplies.

  • To begin, I stamped the Flower Explosion stamp in white pigment ink on So Saffron cardstock.
  • While the ink dried, I cut the two birds, flowers, and foliage with the A Little Birdie set. I used a hole punch to cut centers for the flowers.
  • I heat-embossed the Pinkfresh Studio sentiment on Poppy Parade cardstock.
  • I cut the stamped So Saffron piece with a circle die.
  • I used woodgrain cardstock in my stash to place behind the birds.
  • The background was cut with the Stitched Woodgrain Backdrop die.

A couple of take-aways: I need to remember that foliage can be cut from vellum, white, metallic cardstock, … it doesn’t have to be green; a stitched circle, something that just cuts the outline, but not the center, would make a great addition to my stash.

Die-cut Floral Thanks – Fall Colors

Hello! Today I am sharing a “just because” thank you card featuring die-cuts from My Favorite Things.

Die-cut Floral Thanks - Fall Colors

I colored cardstock with a variety of Distress Oxide inks (some of my favorite colors for this time of year) and cut the blooms, centers, and leaves from the inked cardstock. I thought about creating this card from colored cardstock, but I had very specific colors in mind, which I was able to achieve with the inks. For example, I blended Mowed Lawn and Peeled Paint for the green.

I assembled the flowers and added them to squares, which I had dry-embossed with the Taylored Expressions Weathered folder.

I cut the sentiment from cardstock which had been colored with ink as well. I used the negative portion to help with the alignment on my card base.
