Peace Snowflake – Die-cut Holiday Card

I’m playing along with two challenges – Merry Monday #213 and CAS(E) This Sketch #189 – with a CAS holiday card.

Merry Monday 213

CAS(E) this Sketch #189

Peace Snowflake

I was inspired by the shapes and colors in the Merry Monday #213 photo and the CAS(E) This Sketch #189 design (a sentiment overlaying a symmetrical and centered focal item).

I die cut the Memory Box Dazzling Snowflake (from a holiday release several years ago) from a red cardstock panel (cut with the dotted rectangular die in the Blueprints 13 set). (The Memory Box Spectacular Snowflake die is similar.) In either case, the snowflake die cuts small pieces, which are difficult to use alone. This style works well for the knock-out technique.

I backed the red panel with white cardstock (even though my card base was also white, creating this panel made assembly much easier). I die cut the Brushstroke Peace (Essentials by Ellen) sentiment from silver glitter cardstock and attached it to a vellum strip. I taped the strip behind the snowflake panel and attached the panel to a white cardstock card base. To add a little bling, I attached some Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear sequins (the mix contains 4mm, 6mm and 8mm sizes) with Ranger Multi Medium, Matte.

Penny Black Simplicity – CAS Heat-Embossed Winter Tree

Today, I’m sharing a CAS holiday card featuring a holiday tree image from Penny Black’s the 30-308 Peace & Harmony set.

I heat-embossed the tree with silver embossing powder onto a white cardstock panel. I adhered the panel to a card base covered with paper from the 80-013 Holiday Trimming pad. I added a bird cut from watercolor paper, which I watercolored with Distress Ink, using a die from the 51-050 Tweet Things set. I heat-embossed the sentiment, from the 30-257 Joy Filled set and cut it with the banner die from the 51-055 Shades set.

This card would be easy to mass produce and could be easily changed up by heat-embossing with a different color powder, using different patterned paper or using different colored cardstock for the panel and banner.

12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2015 – Night Before Christmas

Today I’m a guest over in the Ellen Hutson Classroom for the 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist. Paired with the talented Sharon Harnist, I’m sharing a tag created with the theme – Twas The Night Before Christmas.

My tag features Taylored Expressions die cuts and a Santa image and sentiment from the Santa’s Flight set designed by Julie Ebersole.

I built the tag in layers, beginning by heat-embossing the Santa image and ending with the heat-embossed HO HO HO sentiment! Head over to the Classroom for a full supply list and to see Sharon’s take on the theme!

Avery Elle: ‘Tis the Season Tea Cups

“Oh, the weather outside is frightful…” but I’m drinking warm cocoa! I paired a sentiment from Avery Elle’s FA LA LA set with the Tea Time teacups in a holiday card.

Jean Manis 'Tis the Season

I colored the cups (stamped on watercolor paper) with Zig Clean Color brush markers. I cut holes in the two lower cups so that I could stamp the cups, and a small hole in the top cup to hold the candy cane. I added Distress Ink to the background in Peacock Feathers to coordinate with the turquoise and pink on the cups. It ’tis the season for cocoa, egg nog, peppermint mocha lattes, …

Supplies: candy cane (Impress)

Reverse Confetti at 25 Days of Christmas Tags

Reverse Confetti is teaming up with Tracey McNeely’s 25 Days of Christmas Tags Event.
Jean Manis Reverse Confetti Holiday Tags

For both tags, I used the Thanks Tag Confetti Cuts die as the base to which I added a tag reinforcement cut from silver cardstock with one of the Hang Ups dies. Both tags feature a white, silver, aqua and red color scheme.

For the first tag, I cut a tree and branches with Branch Out and added a sentiment cut with Winter Words. I used the banner die in Tag Me as a visual anchor.

For the second tag, I cut snowflakes with the Layered Snowflake die set and a sentiment with Winter Words.
