Merry Monday Christmas Challenge #263

Hello! Today, I am sharing a holiday card inspired by the image shown for Merry Monday Christmas Challenge #263.

I really like this image and would love to set up this hot cocoa bar in my home! The cards from the team are fantastic! My card was most inspired by the one shown by Kelly Lunceford.

Merry Monday Challenge #263

I went through my patterned paper and pulled out the woodgrain and the peppermint. I still have A LOT of patterned paper purchased in past years! The What’s in Your Cup? mug is from Penny Black. The candy cane is from the CottageCutz Peppermint Latte set. The sentiment – Subway Series: Holidays – is from Fresh Squeezed Stamps (now retired).

Merry Monday Challenge #263

Yesterday my husband and I went to a local nursery to see their festive holiday décor. They have an assortment of themed trees including this one featuring kitchen items, candy canes, and gingerbread men.

Penny Black – Smile All Day

Hello! Today, I’m sharing a watercolored card created with the Penny Black 30-305 Smile All Day stamp set.

Penny Black Smile All Day

I stamped the image on to Arches Cold Press watercolor paper with VersaFine ink and colored it with watercolor pencils. Once dry, I masked the image, (I stamped the image on masking paper, fussy-cut it, and applied to the watercolor image), and applied Distress inks for the sky and grass with Clarity Stencil Brushes. In the past, I’ve watercolored the sky, but doing so causes the panel to curl. By applying the ink dry with the brush, the panel was relatively flat. After removing the mask, I stamped the sentiment, cut the image with a circle die, and added it to a card base created with patterned paper.

Penny Black – Cabin in the Woods

Hello! Today, I’m sharing a CAS “Hello” card featuring a combination of Penny Black dies including 51-303 Build a House.

Penny Black Cabin in the Woods

I used the patterned paper (most, if not all is Simple Stories) as the starting point for the feel of the card, which I wanted to be woodsy and cozy – a cabin in the woods. After assembling the cabin, I added a sentiment cut with a die in the 51-040 Hello Frame set, a cloud cut with the smallest die in the 51-033 Silver Linings set, and trees cut with the 51-273 Tall Trees set.

Most of the solid color cardstock is Stampin’ Up. I cut the background with a 4 1/4″ square die from Lil’ Inker Designs.

Penny Black – Floral Die Cuts

Hello! Today, I’m sharing a bold, summer-themed, CAS card created with Penny Black stamps and dies.

Penny Black Floral Die Cuts

I die-cut the larger blooms using one of the dies in the 51-262 Poinsettia Bough set (I used this die set on holiday cards shown here and here). The smaller bloom was cut with a die in the 51-050 Tweet Things set and the greenery with the 51-119 Flower Frolic die.

I heat-embossed one of the sentiments in the 30-418 Stitched Flowers set on black cardstock. To finish, I added butterflies cut with a die in the 51-132 Flights of Fancy. The background is a subtle woodgrain patterned paper. All of the colored cardstock is from Stampin’ Up.

Penny Black – Die-cut Summer Bouquet

Hello! Today, I’m sharing a summer-themed, die-cut card created with Penny Black stamps and dies.

Penny Black Summer-Themed Die-cut Bouquet

I cut the flowers using the 51-244 Gaiety and 51-242 Shall We Dance die sets, placing the flowers in a vase cut with the 51-142 Mason Jar set. I cut the blooms from green cardstock for the stems and various colors for the blooms. (All cardstock is from Stampin’ Up.) On the colored cardstock die-cuts, I trimmed the blooms from the stems and adhered them to the green die-cuts. I cut the jar from vellum, to which I had added double-sided adhesive. After cutting, but before adhering to the flowers, I added Distress Ink to the vellum to simulate water. I then removed the backing and adhered the jar to the top of the blooms placed on the dry-embossed background.

I stamped the sentiment from the 30-228 Blooming Tags stamp set and cut it with a small tag die. I put the burlap string around the top of the Mason Jar to add a natural element. The Mason Jar shadow was created with an oval die.
