Penny Black Christmas Joy

Today, I’m sharing a holiday card created with Penny Black die cuts and a Penny Black background stamp. I had in mind the “Christmas in Rockefeller Center” tree lighting while making this card. Tonight, the tree will be lit for the first time this holiday season!

Penny Black Christmas Joy

I paired the Penny Black Xmas Tree [51-012] die cut, cut in silver and green cardstock and pieced together, with the “Joy” sentiment from the Love & Joy [51-021] die cut set. I cut the “Joy” sentiment twice, once in silver and once in the red cardstock. I adhered the two together in order to give the sentiment some depth so that it would lay on top of the tree die cut. I positioned it so that the swoop of the “J’ intersected with the curved line encircling the tree. I stamped the card base with the Circle & Lines [40-084] background stamp and heat embossed it with silver powder. As I explained in an earlier post, showing a card made with the Xmas Tree die cut, I really like adding metallic accents to my cards at this time of year!

Penny Black – Magical Season

While I usually create holiday cards in traditional colors, I wanted to be a bit more whimsical with a card using Penny Black’s Dancing Deers stamp set [40-258].

I stamped the deer in a repeating pattern with a turquoise dye ink. I finished the card off with a heat-embossed sentiment from Yuletide Greetings [30-132] on pink cardstock. I can envision this card design in other color schemes – traditional or otherwise!

 

Penny Black Joy to the World

Today I’m sharing a card in which one of the holiday die cuts from Penny Black takes center stage. I really like adding metallic accents to my holiday cards, and in this case, my starting point was the outline of the Xmas Tree die cut in silver.

I die cut the Xmas Tree [51-012] in both white and silver cardstock. I pieced the two together and adhered the completed tree with dimensional adhesive onto a circle cut from cardstock stamped with the Penny Black Crystal Pattern [40-162] background stamp. I adhered the circle to a dry-embossed card base, and then I added a banner on which I heat-embossed a sentiment from Penny Black’s Season’s Wishes set [30-201]. I finished the card off with some sparkly jewels.

 

 

Penny Black Holly-day Card

Today, I’m sharing an easy-to-put-together holiday card using the Penny Black Holly Berries die [51-019].

I cut two holly sprigs out of a textured green cardstock and positioned them on the card base in a pleasing manner. I cut a few pieces off of the top sprig in order to give room for my heat-embossed sentiment from the Season’s Wishes set [30-201]. Before adhering the holly branches to the card base, I added Christmas Red Stickles for the berries.

While I kept with traditional Christmas colors, it would be fun to try other color combinations!

Penny Black: Rudolph’s Portrait

Often when I make cards, I create a story behind the card, as was the case with this one using the Penny Black Whooo’s Wishing [30-190] stamp set (now discontinued). As the card began to come together, I pictured this as Rudolph’s portrait on the wall at the North Pole.

I heat embossed the “Rudolph” stamp with white embossing powder. The sentiment, from the  Whoo’s Wishing set, was heat embossed with red powder. I really like the versatility of the Decadence background stamp [40-254] which I stamped in a dark grey. While it brings a formal component to the card, it’s not so formal that it doesn’t play well with the more casual elements on the card, such as the craft store pom pom and the baker’s twine.
