Spellbinders All Aboard Christmas Kit 2021 Limited Edition

Hello! Over the next several days, I will be sharing holiday cards created with the Spellbinders All Aboard Christmas Kit that contains over 580 pieces with which you can create 25+ cards, 24+ tags, and much more. Today, I am showcasing the kit’s 13-piece die set, which includes dies to create a train, train cars, and goodies to fill the train cars.

To create the train, the background, the sentiment, and the embellishments, I used the kit’s solid cardstock, patterned paper, gold foil cardstock, sequins, and die-cut shapes.

The card measures 6 inches wide by 3 inches tall.

Other ideas for this die-set:

  • Use the packages, ornament, and tree shapes on a Christmas-themed tag or card without the train.
  • Use the train and packages on a birthday card, which is not Christmas-themed.

My second post with the kit is here.

Spellbinders Halloween – Boo!

Hello! Today I am sharing two cards created with the just-released Halloween Collection at Spellbinders. Spellbinders has added Halloween-themed die sets to the previously-released Open House CollectionOpen House Halloween and Open House Boo!. I shared Christmas cards created with the Open House Collection here and here. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, and I am delighted with these additions!

The first card measures 6 inches tall by 6 1/4 inches wide when fully opened. When closed, the card is 3 1/8 inches wide. I used 12 inch x 12 inch double-sided patterned paper for the base. The paper was scored so that two panels open to reveal the Halloween door (including Side Panels) in the center, with pumpkins, ghosts, and a scary cat on the sides. I covered the front and back with coordinating patterned paper (the back side of the pattern used on the inside would not have worked for the front).

I cut the sentiment for the front (twice for depth) with the dies in the Open House Boo! set, which I added to a rectangle closure. I used the Open House Topiary set to cut the pots on the front of the card in which to place the ghosts.

I die-cut elements from both the Open House Halloween and Open House Boo! sets to decorate the door and the interior panels.

The second card combines Halloween elements with the Sweet Shoppe set. I previously used that die set here. I envisioned a store window decorated ghoulishly for the holidays.

I used patterned paper for my base and added a rectangle cut from coordinating paper to mat the store front window frame.

To decorate the shop, I die-cut elements from both the Open House Halloween and Open House Boo! sets. I die-cut the sentiment twice, offsetting the bottom layer (as a drop shadow).

Introducing Spellbinders Trim the Tree Collection

Hello! I am delighted to be a guest on the Spellbinders blog featuring two cards created with the recently-released Trim the Tree Collection, which includes dies, glimmer plates, and a stencil that work together or separately. I created the cards with a three-step approach: create the background, create the focal point(s), and embellish. Head to the post for all of the details!

Spellbinders August 2021 Large Die Kit Club

Hello crafty friends! I’m delighted to share a slimline friendship card created with the Spellbinders August 2021 Large Die of the Month “Hex Kaleidoscope Slimline.” Find out more about this set here.

Spellbinders August 2021 Large Die Kit Club

I combined the Large Die of the Month set with this month’s Clear Stamp of the Month Club “Hex Tile Stamps.” To celebrate a new month, I chose a color palette of yellow and shades of orange.

  • I created a card base from Onyx cardstock.
  • I cut a frame from Snowdrift cardstock using the two large dies in the set. I used one of the kaleidoscope hex shapes to cut out the center hex (to frame the sentiment).
  • I heat-embossed the Clear Stamp of the Month Club sentiment in white on to dark orange cardstock and trimmed the piece to fit behind the center open hex.
  • I backed the open frame with dark orange cardstock. I used the detail frame to cut yellow cardstock and inlaid those tiles into the frame.
  • To create the kaleidoscopes, I die-cut the top from Snowdrift cardstock, the next layer from light orange cardstock, and the bottom layer from the same dark orange cardstock. I fussy-cut hex shapes from Onyx cardstock and glued the kaleidoscopes.
  • Once the frame was added to a mat and the card base, I embellished with small blooms cut with a die in the Special Delivery set.
