I used the sketch to create a card celebrating summer. I was indirectly influenced by the inspiration photo. The ice cream cone made me think of popsicles, which made me think of flip flops, …).

The Little Bits adhered to the die-cut circles, do the heavy lifting here, while the Picture Perfect – Sunny Days frame adds a sentiment and ties the card together.

Splash! – colourQ challenge #348

I’m playing along with colourQ challenge #348 with a CAS summer-themed card.

I thought about this combination of colors for a bit and kept trying to figure out which color should have the most emphasis and which the least. In the end, I decided to give the colors more or less the same amount of emphasis and employed my design friend – repetition.

I colored Ranger Glossy Cardstock with Distress Inks to cut with the Little Bits – Beach Ball die. I cut the base of the balls and the Mini Caps Alpha & #’s from uncolored Glossy Cardstock. I like how the glossy cardstock emulates the plastic of blow-up beach balls. I colored the background using Loll Thompson’s “splash” watercolor technique using Tumbled Glass Distress Ink- her video is here. I had “splash” on the brain, since that’s what I used for the sentiment!

I used the sketch and the colors to create a summer-themed card:

I used the Eventful – Pool Party die to do the “heavy lifting” of my design. The big “hello” from Bold Brushstrokes was heat-embossed on the Candy Corn cardstock rectangle. To embellish, I couldn’t resist using another pair of Little Bits – Flip Flops on this card (I’ve used these on half a dozen cards this summer!).

TE Share Joy Challenge #39I used the sketch to create a CAS summer-themed card showcasing the Summer Nights patterned paper. (I used this same paper on another project just last week.)

I cut equal-sized strips of three of the paper patterns in the pack. I heat-embossed a sentiment created with the Little Bits of Summer stamp set onto a strip of the same size in Blue Corn cardstock.

To finish, I added the die-cut Little Bits – Flip Flops to the focal circle.

Headed Out to Surf!

It’s time to say “Aloha” to the Taylored Expressions June 2016 Release! All of the products that we have been sharing this week are now available in the TE store!

Before you head off to shop, I have one more project to show you! My card showcases On the Road – Surf Bus along with the On the Line Beach Cutting Plate.

There are so many “goodies” in the On the Line Beach Cutting Plate with which to embellish a scene! I added a sentiment from the Simply Stamped – Pineapple set, which I stamped onto a cloud cut with the Cloud Duo die set.
