Penny Black Watercolored Wintertime Cheer

Hello! Happy Boxing Day. Today, I am sharing a watercolored card featuring Penny Black supplies. I had some time recently to watercolor and my husband chose this image from the Wintertime Cheer set. My husband has a tractor and really liked this cute image.

Penny Black Watercolored Wintertime Cheer

I heat-embossed the Wintertime Cheer image on Canson Montval paper and watercolored it with the Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors. I used Tumbled Glass ink for the sky and Hickory Smoke for the ground using one of the brushes in the Claritystamp set. I stamped the sentiment with an image in the Joy Filled set. I adhered the panel to a red card base.

I am entering this into the Penny Black Saturday Challenge December – Winter or Christmas.

Watercolored Snow Day

Hello! Today I am sharing a CAS card featuring one of the images from the Newton’s Nook Designs Snow Day stamp set (now retired). I have never before stamped any images in this set (and I purchased it in 2013!).

I stamped and heat-embossed the dog image on Canson Montval watercolor paper and colored it with a combination of Distress Inks and Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors.

Once the image was dry, I cut it with a die in the Stitched Square Stackables – Large set. I heat-embossed a sentiment from the Snow Globe Sentiments set and cut it with a die in the Everyday Sentiment Banners set. I used the Stitched Woodgrain Backdrop die to create the card background. Once assembled, I realized there was a critical missing detail – snowflakes! I used the Snow Caps set to die-cut snowflakes from the watercolor paper.

The 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2017 – Day 12 Lawn Fawn

Hello. Today, I am sharing a tag created for The 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2017 – Day 12 for which Lawn Fawn was the guest. All of the inspiration tags were terrific! My tag was most influenced by those shown by Elena Roussakis and Lindsey M-p.

The 25 Days of Christmas Tags 2017 - Day 12 Lawn Fawn

I stamped the Toboggan Together deer images on Arches Hot Press Watercolor Paper with VersaFine and colored them with Kuretake Gansai Tambi Dark Brown (47)Kuretake Gansai Tambi Brown (46) and Kuretake Gansai Tambi Light Brown (44).

Once dry, I cut the images with their corresponding dies. I colored Canson Watercolor Paper with Broken China Distress Oxide ink and Distress Oxide Lucky Clover ink. Once the paper was dry, I cut the tag background from the blue with the largest die in the Stitched Circle Tags set. I cut the Forest Border from the green. I cut the snow banks using the Stitched Hillside Backdrop Landscape die, which I also cut with the largest die in the Stitched Circle Tags set. I heat-embossed the Merry Messages sentiment with Geranium Red embossing powder.

I used Peppermint twine to finish off the tag. For such a simple tag, there were a lot of steps! The best part – this tag is already adorning a wrapped gift!

The Ton – Watercolored Poinsettia Close Up

Hello! Today, I am sharing a card created with The Ton’s Poinsettia Close Up stamp. It appears that 2017 is the year of the poinsettia! I have never before seen so many stamp sets featuring this flower as I have this year.

The Ton Poinsettia

I stamped and heat-embossed the stamp with WOW Iridium embossing powder on Canson Montval watercolor paper. I watercolored the image with Colorburst powders (dissolved) and once dry, I added shading with colored pencils. The Holiday Love Poinsettia sentiment was heat-embossed on vellum. I cut the watercolored image and added it to a gold metallic card base. The vellum is wrapped around the back of the watercolored panel.

I watched several watercoloring videos including one by Effie Cho and another by Janette Kausen before embarking on the watercoloring of this image.

Here in the Pacific Northwest, we have several garden centers who offer beautiful poinsettias this time of year. My husband and I recently visited Molbak’s to see their offerings – more than twenty varieties!

Hero Arts Watercolored Holiday Animals

Hello! Today, I am sharing a holiday card showcasing the Hero Arts’ Holiday Animals stamp set. I bought this stamp set last year (the year before?) and had never used it.

I stamped and heat-embossed two of the images from the stamp set on Canson Montval watercolor paper. I colored them with a combination of Distress Inks and Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors.

I inked the same watercolor paper with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink on which I stamped the trees (and then cut with their corresponding dies). The background was inked with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink. The patterned paper card base is from a Lawn Fawn 6 x 6 pad released several years ago.
