Embossed + Watercolored Tea Time Thanks

Today, I’m sharing a card featuring the Avery Elle Tea Time set.

TeaTimeThanks

Ever since completing my card for the AEI♥U Challenge #27 – Embossing, I’ve been wanting to do more watercoloring. (For me, I am taking baby steps! Watercoloring continues to intimidate me!) I stamped and heat-embossed the teacups on watercolor paper and colored with Peerless watercolors. (I actually started with Distress Inks and then added the Peerless for more depth.) Once dry, I cut the teacups out with their corresponding dies. The background circle was cut from a panel that I watercolored with a variety of Peerless colors and Distress Inks. I heat-embossed the sentiment on Neenah cardstock and cut it out with the larger Finished Frames die. I realized after the card was completed that I had two teacups – so the sentiment should read “Cups of Thanks”!) The teacups and hearts are attached with dimensional adhesive.

Background Check Day Six – Party Animals

Today, I’m sharing another Day Six Online Card Classes Background Check lesson card using techniques shown by Debby Hughes. Of all of the cards I made for this class, this one was the most ambitious!

BackgroundCheckDaySix

To begin, I dry embossed the Ranger watercolor paper with the woodgrain embossing folder and the circle diffuser. (Debby showed how to make a custom diffuser, which I will certainly do at some point in the future.) I watercolored the section of the panel that was not embossed with Peerless watercolors. While the panel dried, I Copic-colored some of the adorable images from the Lawn Fawn Party Animals set. I also stamped one of the Chit Chat sentiments.

The dry-embossed panel was adhered to cardstock with foam adhesive. Because of the embossing and watercoloring, the panel is quite warped, so I used a lot of adhesive. I finished the card off with some Doodle Bug twine.

I have really enjoyed the Online Card Classes Background Check course!

AEI♥U Challenge #27 – Embossing

It’s time for another AEI♥U Challenge! This month’s theme is Embossing! Here’s my take on the theme:

AEAugust2015

I stamped and heat embossed the van from Surf’s Up three times on watercolor paper. I then stamped and heat embossed the sentiment from Sending You. ( I did so in two steps – by first stamping and heat embossing the “sending” and then “good vibes.” When I tried stamping the two pieces of the sentiment at the same time, I couldn’t get them close enough together.)

I used Peerless Watercolors to color the vans. Once the panel was dry, I cut it with the frame in Custom Panels. I cut the hearts from watercolored paper with dies from the Finished Frames set. As a final step, I added Glossy Accents to the hearts.

There’s no limit to how you can interpret embossing  for this challenge!

Avery Elle Make a Wish

Today, I’m sharing a watercolor card featuring the Avery Elle Storybook stamp set with coordinating dies. Have you seen this month’s AEI♥U Challenge? There’s still time to play along!

AEAprilChallenge

I stamped the balloons and mouse, colored them with a combination of watercolor pencils and Distress inks, and then used the coordinating dies to cut them. I stamped the balloon strings directly onto a square panel that I washed with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink. Combining pencils and Distress Inks is one of my favorite watercolor methods.

AEI♥U Challenge #23 – Watercolor!

Here’s my take on the AEI♥U Watercolor Challenge:

AEApril2015-Challenge

I did some faux watercoloring by inking my stamps with Distress Inks and then spritzing/misting with water before stamping onto watercolor paper. The stems from Petals and Stems were stamped directly onto the panel. The flowers, from the Fabulous Florals stamp set, were stamped onto watercolor paper, stamped again with a smaller flower, and then cut with their matching Elle-ments set. The die-cut sentiment was cut with the Thank You Elle-ments die from cardstock, which I colored directly with a Distress Ink pad.

There’s no limit to how you can create a watercolor project for the challenge – use colored pencils, Distress Inks, traditional watercolors, …
