Simon Says Stamp – Flower Cluster Die

Hello! Today I am sharing a “just because” card featuring the Simon Says Stamp Flower Cluster die. I shared a card with this same die (also using the inlaid technique) in this post.

I cut the outline from black cardstock.
I colored white cardstock with a variety of Distress Oxide inks. I cut the colored cardstock with the die and inlaid the pieces into the frame. I placed tape across the back of the frame to hold the pieces.
I stamped the Every Moment sentiment on a 4″ x 5 1/4″ panel.
I added the assembled cluster to the sentiment panel and the panel to the card base, which I dry-embossed with a subtle texture.

Watercolored Penny Black Floral

Hello! Today I am sharing a floral card watercolored with Zig Clean Color Brush markers.

I stamped Penny Black’s Sweet Perfume (this is an older cling stamp which appears to be retired) with Versafine ink on Canson Montval paper. I colored the image with a variety of Zig markers including Carmine, Light Carmine, Yellow, Bright Yellow, Orange, Light Green, May Green, and Persian Blue.

Once dry, I trimmed the watercolored panel to 4 1/2″ wide by 5 1/2″ tall.

I stamped and heat-embossed the sentiment from the Sentiment Collection set and cut it with the smaller tag in the 51-007 Tagged die set. I cut the tag reinforcement piece from black cardstock. I attached the tag to the background with dimensional adhesive and used twine to finish off the card.

Freshly Made Sketches #399 – Nautical-Themed

Hello! Today I am sharing a CAS, nautical-themed card for the Freshly Made Sketches #399 Challenge.

This was an easy sketch with which to work and my card came together quickly!

I stamped the SU Pool Party square with a Stampin’ Up sentiment (Hello, Sailor retired set) in SU Night of Navy ink.
I die-cut the anchor (WPlus9 Nautical Notions) from SU Night of Navy cardstock, the crab (TE Little Bits – Crustaceans) from SU Real Red, and the rope and life ring with the Cottage Cutz Rope Corner set.
I added the elements to the sentiment stamped panel (using foam adhesive for the crab, life ring, and the anchor) and added the assembly to the square card base.

I’m already thinking of other ideas for this sketch!

Spellbinders Small Die of the Month Kit – Pack It Up

Hello and happy August! I can’t believe how fast this summer (this year!) is flying by. Today, I am sharing two projects created with the August Small Die of the Month kit from Spellbinders – “Pack It Up” ($12.50 with US shipping included in the cost!). This is an adorable die set that lends itself to a number of card themes including school and travel. And these cards could not have come together any faster! Let’s take a look!

The set contains all of the dies required to create the backpack, along with fun accessories, and two sentiments. On both cards, I used papers from the Echo Park “Back to School” 6″ x 6″ patterned paper pack along with silver foil cardstock.

On my first card, I created two backpacks – one open, with the sentiment inside the top flap, and the other closed.

I cut out the elements and assembled the backpacks with glue. My favorite part – the silver buckles and zipper pull!
I added the assembled backpacks to a 6″ x 6″ card base.

On my second card, measuring 5 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, I featured one of the backpacks along with the cute accessories.

On this card, I die-cut the “You Rule!” sentiment with a circle.
To “quiet” the background paper, I put double-sided adhesive on vellum and added it on top of the patterned paper base.

Watercolored Aloha Newton

Hello! Today I am sharing a summer-themed card featuring one of the images from the Newton’s Nook Aloha Newton set. I have previously shared cards using this set here and here.

I stamped the image with Versafine ink on Smooth Bristol and watercolored it with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers.
Once the image was dry, I put masking paper over it and sponged the background with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink.
I cut the image with a circle die and cut another circle, from white cardstock with a slightly larger die, as a mat.
I stamped the sentiment and cut it with a now-retired MFT Stamps tag die.
I dry-embossed the kraft card base and added a panel of Carta Bella Summer Splash patterned paper to reinforce the tropical/beach theme.
