Penny Black – Christmas Joy

Hello! Today I am sharing a holiday scene, created entirely with die-cuts, featuring Penny Black products. I love making scene cards, especially at Christmas-time.

Penny Black - Christmas Joy

  • I cut the #51-562 Christmas Wonderland border from white cardstock. I trimmed off two of the trees in the middle (the sleigh hides that area) and backed the remaining three trees with colored cardstock. I added the border to the navy cardstock base.
  • I cut the #51-572 Jumbo Joy letters from white cardstock and added them with foam adhesive to the base. I used the negative of the letters for alignment.
  • I cut the  #51-466 Sleigh from Poppy Parade cardstock.
  • I cut the #51-465 Mitten Stocking items from cardstock and flock material, placing them into the sleigh on the card.

As I commented on a previous card using the #51-562 Christmas Wonderland border, I really like the whimsical feel it adds to the card.

CAS Christmas Tree – Impression Obsession Christmas Tree Cutout

Hello! Today, I am sharing a CAS Christmas card created with supplies that I’ve owned for some time. In fact, I first used (it’s possible it was the only time I used) the Impression Obsession Christmas Tree Cutout die in this post for Ellen Hutson in 2014. I like revisting my supplies and finding new designs on which to use them.

  • I white heat-embossed one of my favorite sentiments (from the now-retired Hero Arts Operation Write Home Winter Wishes set) on Taylored Expressions Blue Raspberry cardstock. I cut the panel with a stitched rectangle die.
  • I cut the Impression ObsessionChristmas Tree Cutout tree using the outline die from Poppy Parade cardstock and again with both the outline die and detail die from white cardstock. I glued the two together.
  • I stamped the Hero Arts Candy Stripes background with Lady Bug ink.

I like the whimsy of the Christmas tree, reinforced with the colors and the striped card background. Thanks for stopping by!

Freshly Made Sketches #411

Hello! I’m playing along with the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge this week with a CAS Christmas card.

  • I cut the penguin with the Picture Book Secret Penguin die from Simon Says Stamp and assembled him. The hat was cut with the Eline’s Winter Outfits set from Marianne Design.
  • I stamped the Neat & Tangled “Hello Winter” stamp (now retired) in white ink on the darker red cardstock. I stamped the sentiment twice; when I stamped the second time, I shifted down a line to create a more random pattern.
  • I used a heart die in the Lawn Fawn Speech Bubbles set to cut the heart in a brighter red cardstock.
  • The background paper is from the Echo Park Celebrate Winter collection.

Holiday Penguin Tags

Hello! I’m sharing holiday tags featuring the Tux die set. I’ve placed the penguin on to tags cut with the Spellbinders Tag, You’re It die (stock number SR-004). The die set is out-of-stock but is available at other retailers. Spellbinders is running a promotion right now on Steel Rule dies.

Steel Rule dies are thick dies that can cut a variety of materials such as denim, chipboard, metal, etc. I used the die set to cut corrugated cardstock, cork, and various glitter cardstocks I have in my stash.

To construct the penguins, I die cut the pieces using these instructions as a guide. To note: the penguin head is added on top of the body after the scarf is added, which differs from the way the instructions are written.

I adhered snowflakes to the tags and added the penguins on top with foam adhesive. I heat-embossed the sentiment on a strip, which I added under the tag grommet.
