Penny Black Simplicity Fronds Background

Today I’m sharing two CAS cards featuring the Penny Black #40-314 Fronds background stamp.

WorldtoMe

For both cards, I inked white cardstock with Distress Inks (Salty Ocean and Twisted Citron) directly onto the paper. I then stamped the Fronds stamp onto the inked paper with Versamark ink for a subtle tone-on-tone effect. This technique was shown by Jennifer McGuire in the Online Card Classes Background Check class. For the first card, I added a heat-embossed sentiment from the #30-286 Heartfelt set and a butterfly cut with a die in the #51-132 Flights of Fancy set.

For the second card, I added a sentiment cut with the #51-104 Hello die. I cut it three times for depth and cut off the extension of the “o.”

Reverse Confetti Back-to-School Card

Today, I’m sharing a card with a back-to-school theme showcasing Reverse Confetti stamps and Confetti Cuts.

TakeNote

I used the Woodgrain Confetti Cuts to create a clipboard base to which I added a hinge cut with a die in the Posted Note Confetti Cuts set. The apple was cut with dies in the Class Act Confetti Cuts set, as was the notebook paper (which was stamped with the Class Act set). The “take note” stamp is in the Posted Note Sentiments set. I just love the bold font that looks as if it’s written with a Sharpie.

I’m joining the Simon Says Back To School Challenge.

Freshly Made Sketches #200

Today, I’m playing along with Freshly Made Sketches #200 with Reverse Confetti stamps and Confetti Cuts. Reverse Confetti is one of the sponsors for Freshly Made Sketches 200th sketch!

Here’s my take on the sketch:FMS200Card

I paired die cuts from Weather It Together for the top rectangle with a heat-embossed sentiment from God is Good for the lower rectangle.

CAS(E) this Sketch #136

I’m playing along with the latest CAS(E) this Sketch #136 challenge. I couldn’t resist practicing my Distress Ink backgrounds to create a CAS fall-themed card. Here in the Pacific Northwest, we’re definitely seeing signs of fall!

Distress Ink background (top to bottom): Scattered Straw, Dried Marigold, Ripe Persimmon; Spellbinders bird die; Stampin’ Up sentiment

I’m going to start keeping a notebook with Distress Ink background combinations. I never seem to know what combinations to use. I’ve got a remnant piece from this card that I’ve labeled with the colors.

Using Repetition – Nautical CAS Card

After creating this nautical-themed card, I had many lighthouses left over, as I had experimented with different construction techniques, as well as color combinations, when creating the lighthouses. So I put together a CAS card with the leftovers practicing the design principle of repetition!
