Hello! I am delighted to be a guest on the Spellbinders blog featuring two cards created with the recently-released Trim the Tree Collection, which includes dies, glimmer plates, and a stencil that work together or separately. I created the cards with a three-step approach: create the background, create the focal point(s), and embellish. Head to the post for all of the details!

Penny Black Ship in a Bottle
Ahoy! Today I am sharing a CAS, masculine, nautical-themed card created with the stamp set 30-842 Set Sail from Penny Black. I have always been fascinated with concept of a ship in a bottle (although I have never been inclined to make one!). Anyone else feel as if summer is winding down? I am in the process of making Halloween cards, Christmas cards, as well as summer-themed cards. (A crazy time of year!)
This card has two layers (in addition to the card base) – the ship in the bottle and the sentiment panel. (I could have taken another step in masking to achieve a one-layer image.)
- To create the ship in the bottle, I stamped the boat, stamped the bottle around the boat, and stamped the boat and top part of the bottle on masking paper, which I fussy-cut.
- I masked the boat image and top of the bottle (cork and seal) before applying inks to the bottle to create a sky and ocean.
- I colored the boat, as well as the seal and cork on the bottle, and then fussy-cut the bottle.
- For the sentiment panel, I stamped the sentiment and applied inks to create a horizon line for the bottle. I stamped the bottle on to the panel so that the string around the top and the detail of the bottle (on the left-hand side) would be included.
- I adhered the bottle to the panel and the assembly to the card base.
Spellbinders August 2021 Large Die Kit Club
Hello crafty friends! I’m delighted to share a slimline friendship card created with the Spellbinders August 2021 Large Die of the Month “Hex Kaleidoscope Slimline.” Find out more about this set here.
I combined the Large Die of the Month set with this month’s Clear Stamp of the Month Club “Hex Tile Stamps.” To celebrate a new month, I chose a color palette of yellow and shades of orange.
- I created a card base from Onyx cardstock.
- I cut a frame from Snowdrift cardstock using the two large dies in the set. I used one of the kaleidoscope hex shapes to cut out the center hex (to frame the sentiment).
- I heat-embossed the Clear Stamp of the Month Club sentiment in white on to dark orange cardstock and trimmed the piece to fit behind the center open hex.
- I backed the open frame with dark orange cardstock. I used the detail frame to cut yellow cardstock and inlaid those tiles into the frame.
- To create the kaleidoscopes, I die-cut the top from Snowdrift cardstock, the next layer from light orange cardstock, and the bottom layer from the same dark orange cardstock. I fussy-cut hex shapes from Onyx cardstock and glued the kaleidoscopes.
- Once the frame was added to a mat and the card base, I embellished with small blooms cut with a die in the Special Delivery set.
Spellbinders – Christmas Collection – Be Merry
Hello! Today, I am sharing an A2-sized Christmas card showcasing products from the just-released Be Merry Collection at Spellbinders.
- I stenciled white paste through the Layered Christmas Tree stencil on to an A2-sized panel of red, velvet-textured cardstock.
- I glimmer-foiled the Gifts of Christmas sentiment in gold on to navy cardstock.
- After masking the sentiment, I stenciled white paste through the Layered Christmas Tree stencil. Once dry, I cut the sentiment with a 3 inch circle die.
- I die-cut the snowy hills from glitter cardstock with the dies in the Color Block Scenic Scape set and cut them with the 3 inch circle die. I adhered the snow banks to the navy circle.
- I die-cut the Chill Bear from Snowdrift cardstock and gold foil.
- I die-cut the ornament top from gold foil with a die in the Circle Kaleidoscope Slimline die set. The ornament string was cut with a die in a previously-released Spellbinders Christmas die set.
- I added the ornament and bear to the red background.

Penny Black Birthday Fishes
Hello! Today, I am sharing a CAS birthday card created with the adorable 30-846 Birthday Fishes stamp set from Penny Black.
- Using the stamps in the 30-846 Birthday Fishes set, I stamped the large fish with black Archival ink on cardstock, to which I had applied Distress Oxide inks, and fussy-cut the images.
- I applied Distress Oxide inks to a panel in shades of blue.
- I stamped the sentiment and the school of fish in black Archival ink on the blue panel.
- I added the larger fish to the scene with foam adhesive.
- I adhered the scene to a black cardstock card base.
