Father’s Day Card for a Fishing Enthusiast

Hello! Today I am sharing a CAS, fishing-themed, Father’s Day card created with dies in the Elizabeth Craft Designs Camping Accessories set.

Father's Day Card for a Fishing Enthusiast

  • I colored soft-finish cardstock with Distress Inks and cut the colored cardstock with the fishing pole and the fish dies in the Camping Accessories set.
  • I stamped the Stampin’ Up sentiment (now-retired Best Catch stamp set) on to a 4 1/4″ square base.
  • For the water, I colored a strip with Distress Ink and stamped it with the My Favorite Things Winter Waves Background stamp in darker ink. I added the strip to the bottom of the card base.
  • The fish was added to the card with foam adhesive.

Along with the fishing-theme, I particularly like the bright colors on the card.

Supplies:

Penny Black Hydrangea

Hello! Today I am sharing a CAS “Thank You” featuring a potted hydrangea created with Penny Black supplies. Around here, we’ll begin to see hydrangeas blooming mid-July.

Penny Black Hydrangea

  • I cut the 51-610 Hydrangea pieces from green cardstock and two shades of blue.
  • With the same set, I cut the butterflies from yellow cardstock.
  • I cut the pot for the plant from red cardstock with a die in the 51-635 Buckets of Flowers set.
  • I cut the back frame with the 51-611 Creative Curves die from white cardstock.
  • I stamped the 30-281 Flower Sparks sentiment and cut it with a circle die.
  • I tried a number of different backgrounds, including ones I stamped with backgrounds stamps. In the end, patterned paper from my stash worked best.

Spellbinders Large Die June 2020 – Geometrical Floral Frames

Hello!  Today I am sharing a CAS friendship card created with the June Large Die of the Month kit from Spellbinders – “Geometrical Floral Frames.” (Edited: This die set is no longer available.)

On my card, I used one of the frames in the set along with the flowers and foliage.

  • I heat-embossed the sentiment on deep blue cardstock.
  • I cut the frame from gold foil.
  • I cut the greenery from SU Cucumber Crush (now retired) and vellum. I cut the flowers from yellow, red, and white, and their centers from gold foil.
  • I glued the foliage and flowers to the frame. I used flowers to cover the junction points for the foliage.
  • I glued the frame to the card base.
  • I added flat sequins in several sizes to the card to fill in the “white space.”

Paper Smooches You’re Swell

Hello! Today I am sharing a CAS friendship card featuring Paper Smooches supplies. I have created similar cards in the past using a now-retired My Favorite Things die that cuts a three-circle frame.

Paper Smooches You're Swell

  • My starting point for this card was the Echo Park Dive Into Summer patterned paper.
  • I cut the three-circle frame for the underwater scenes and sentiment.
  • I combined the Paper Smooches Water Wise and Ocean Scene die sets with the Surf and Turf sentiment, choosing colors for the ocean plants and the fish to tie in with the patterned paper colors.

  • To create my CAS card, I used two of the dies in the May Small Die of the Month set to cut detailed borders. The dies can be lined up together and cut simultaneously in a variety of combinations. I cut the borders from three different cardstock colors.
  • I lined the backs of the die-cut borders with Whip Cream cardstock.
  • I heat-embossed the sentiment in silver on to Whip Cream cardstock.

  • I added the Butterfly Frame die-cut, cut three times for additional dimension, to the top of the card as a focal point.
  • I assembled the card by adhering the panels on to a card base, starting with the bottom layer first.
  • At the point where the white panel meets the pink detailed border, I added a thin strip of Whip Cream cardstock.
