Spellbinders August Small Die of the Month Kit

Hello! Today, I am delighted to be sharing two CAS projects created with the August Small Die Of The Month kit from Spellbinders. These cards took very little time to put together!

I created a “cheer up” card and a holiday card with the set. The birds, flourishes, frames, and flower lend themselves to a number of different occasions! First a look at the “cheer up” card.

I cut the pieces from cardstock to which I had applied watercolor and Distress Inks. I heat-embossed the birds with clear embossing powder. The background was dry-embossed with the Spellbinders SES-006 Circles and Diamonds embossing folder. I added Nuvo Crystal Drops to the flowers.

Now the holiday card.

For the holiday card, I cut the frame, flourish, and birds from cardstock to which I had applied double-sided adhesive. I applied microfine glitter to the pieces before adding them to a piece of patterned paper on which I had stamped the sentiment.

I already have more ideas swirling around my head for the pieces in the kit. Head over to the Spellbinders blog for info about the kit and more inspiration!

TE August 2018 Release Day – Fall and Halloween

Hello! Welcome to the Taylored Expressions August 2018 Release! All of the products that we have been sharing this week are now available in the TE store! Before you head off to shop, I have a Halloween-themed card and a fall-themed card to show you.

Both of my projects today showcase newly introduced Caps Lock sets – such an easy way to add an impactful sentiment to a card. On my first card, I used Caps Lock – Boo along with the Bare Trees Background stamp, Tomb Sweet Tomb, and Tombstone Trio to create a CAS Halloween scene.

TE August 2018 ReleaseI stamped the Bare Trees Background on to both Eggplant and Sweet Potato Pie cardstock, cut the letters out of the Sweet Potato Pie and adhered them over the background.

On my second project, I combined the Cutting Edge – Fall set and Cap Locks – Fall for an autumn-themed card.

I stamped the background with the Gunny Sack Background stamp. I added the Cutting Edge – Fall border (which I colored with Copic Markers) and a few individual leaves created with the same set.

Simon Says Stamp Friendly Frolic Blog Hop

Hello! Today, I’m delighted to be sharing three projects as part of a Simon Says Stamp blog hop showcasing products from the FRIENDLY FROLIC release.

My first project showcases the Folk Dance die, with which I used the inlay technique (one of my favorites).

Simon Says Stamp Friendly Frolic Blog Hop

  • To create a frame for the pieces, I die-cut the Folk Dance panel several times from black cardstock and adhered the layers together. I backed the panel with white cardstock.
  • I used the Folk Dance die to cut the leaves and petals from colored cardstock and adhered the pieces into the frame.
  • I adhered the assembly to a card base.
  • I stamped the Big Thanks sentiment on a white cardstock strip with black ink.
  • I die-cut the Big Happy sentiment and applied it to the strip.
  • I adhered the strip to the card.

My second card features the Diamond Pattern die.

  • I inked a cardstock panel (masking as I went along) with Picked Raspberry, Spun Sugar, Twisted Citron, and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks and cut it with the Diamond Pattern die.
  • I adhered the panel over a similarly colored piece so that the diamond pattern revealed a second layer of color.
  • I added a sentiment cut with the You Da Best die.

My final project combines an image from the Plantiful Puns stamp set with the Diamond Pattern stamp.

Simon Says Stamp Friendly Frolic Blog Hop

  • I stamped the Plantiful Puns image and colored it with Copic markers.
  • I stamped the card front panel with the Diamond Pattern stamp using Versamark ink.
  • I cut a circle in the panel and adhered the plant image from behind.
  • I heat-embossed the Plantiful Puns sentiment on a strip, which I adhered just under the plant image.
  • I adhered the panel to a dry-embossed card base.

Spellbinders Layers of Flowers – Take Two

Hello! Today, I’m sharing a CAS card created with the Spellbinders Layers of Flowers die set. This is my second card using this die set. My first take had a vertical orientation.

Spellbinders Layers of Flowers - Take Two

The set, designed by Marisa Job, includes three different floral panels. I heat-embossed a sentiment on to a rectangular panel to which I attached the assembled layers. Two of the layers are cut from white cardstock, which puts the focus on the top detailed layer. I added small yellow circles to the centers of the flowers for additional color and to tie in with the patterned paper background.
