Hooray for the Red, White and Blue!

Welcome to Day 3 of the Taylored Expressions May Sneak Peeks! The wait if almost over! May products will be released tomorrow – Thursday, May 5 @ 7 AM PST! Today’s projects feature new patriotic products (good for Memorial Day, 4th of July, military, etc.)!

My first card illustrates a 4th of July celebration in the city.

I created a shaker card, which I filled with pieces cut with the Little Bits – Patriotic Confetti die. (I also picked out red, clear and white sequins from several other TE sequin sets.) I backed the skyline with cardstock (I didn’t knock out all of the windows of the skyscrapers.) The sky was dry-embossed with the Fireworks folder, from which I cut a circle (backing the circle with an acrylic sheet). I cut the Americana Script from white cardstock and again from red, white and blue cardstock. I trimmed off the word “red” and one of the stars, trimmed off the word “white” and trimmed off the word “blue” (respectively from the red, white and blue cardstock sentiments) carefully adhering them to the sentiment cut from white.

My next project combines the Little Bits – Fireworks and Little Bits – Patriotic Confetti with a stamped sentiment from the Patriotic Pals Stamp & Die Combo set.

I cut the stamped sentiment with one of the Stitched Bracket Stacklets dies and attached the Little Bits pieces with glue and foam adhesive. The bracket was attached to a navy cardstock panel dry-embossed with the Lots of Stars folder. I’m a big fan of red, white and blue and the star motif!

My final red, white and blue project is inspired by a hometown 4th of July parade (the neighborhood in which I grew up had one, and it was fun to have my sons participate in the same parade as well).

I used the Lots of Stars folder for the dry-embossed background, to which I added the Marching On silhouette, cut from silver metallic cardstock. I added the Celebrate Freedom Banner pieces (one tucked under the other) and finished the card off with a frame cut from the Stitched Frame Stacklets 1 set. These frames are handy for giving a finished feel.

Hit the Road

It’s Day Two of the Taylored Expressions May Sneak Peeks! Today’s projects showcase the outdoors and adventure. The May products will be released Thursday, May 5 @ 7 AM PST!

My first project, a camping-themed card, could fit a variety of occasions!

Taylored Expressions May 2016 Release

The previously released Happy Trails stamp set now has coordinating dies! I colored in the bear and skunk with Copic markers and cut them out. To the scene I added a camper cut with the On the Road – Camper die set and a fire and tree cut with the Build a Scene – Lakeside set. The RV There Yet? sentiment was stamped onto a hill cut with Build a Scene – Rolling Hills.

Have a friend who has just retired, moving away or changing jobs? The “Enjoy the Journey” sentiment from Go Beep has you covered!

I heat-embossed the sentiment on Earl Grey cardstock, which simulates the road. I created the On the Road – Truck and the On the Road – Camper with a variety of cardstock colors, using foam adhesive on certain pieces to create more depth. This card is long and skinny to accommodate the truck and camper.

Celebrating Teachers and Dads!

Welcome to Day One of the Taylored Expressions May 2016 Sneak Peeks! The May products will be released Thursday, May 5 @ 7 AM PST! Today’s projects feature products celebrating and honoring Dads and Teachers.

My first project is a Father’s Day card crafted with the Whole Wide World die and Best in the World stamp set.

Taylored Expressions May 2016 Release

For masculine cards, I like to use shades of brown and navy blue. I used the MISTI to stamp the sentiments from the Best in the World set (I used two different stamps; the set offers the ability to easily personalize your sentiments for the men in your life). I cut the globe with the Whole Wide World die set in a variety of colors (including a brown from the Woodgrain Textured Cardstock Pack) and added the assembled pieces to the stamped panel, finishing off the card front with a cardstock strip, which I dry-embossed with the Know the Ropes folder (providing subtle texture).

One of this month’s big items is the new Tagging Along die set, with which I created this gift tote. There are so many occasions coming up this season for which this tote could be used – graduation, engagement parties, teacher appreciation, …

Taylored Expressions May 2016 Release

While creating my tote, I envisioned an engagement party using a Tiffany Blue-like cardstock for the front panel. I stamped a sentiment from Toe-tally Awesome and cut the cardstock with the largest die in the Tag Stacklets 1 set (specifically sized to go with the Tagging Along die). The gift tote was cut from silver cardstock, which is included in the Metallic Neutrals pack.

I finished the front panel off with a nail polish bottle cut with the Little Bits – Nail Polish set.

TE Share Joy Challenge #33

Today I’m sharing a card I created for Taylored Expressions Share Joy Challenge #33.SJC33Apr28

I used the sketch to create an encouragement or congratulations card showcasing the Sky High – Airplane set. This is a perfect boy card!

TE Share Joy Challenge #33

I cut a variety of cardstock colors with the Sky High – Airplane set and assembled the pieces with liquid adhesive. I heat-embossed a sentiment from the Sky High Sentiments set and cut it with a die in the Stitched Banner Stacklets set. I used the Cloudy Days embossing folder for the panel behind the airplane and the Houndstooth embossing folder for the lower portion of the card. I rarely use two embossing folders on one card, but the patterned paper I tried on the lower half just didn’t work. The patterned paper strip (Carta Bella) was also cut with one of the dies in the Stitched Banner Stacklets set. (I cut once and then turned it around to cut a rectangle rather than a banner.)

Supplies:

Penny Black Woodland Friends

Today, I’m sharing a CAS spring-themed card combining an image from Penny Black’s #30-278 Woodland Friends stamp set with a die-cut fox, created with #51-193 Woodland Friends II.

Penny Black Simplicity Woodland Creatures

I positioned the Woodland Friends stamp on my MISTI and masked off the fox. I colored the stamped image with watercolor pencils. (On my first try I colored the background blue, but I decided I preferred a more CAS look.) I separately cut the fox with the Woodland Friends II set from cardstock, which I had colored with Distress Inks. I added enamel dots for the nose and eye. I attached the fox to the scene with foam adhesive.

I masked a sentiment from #30-160 Friendship and cut it with one of the word balloons in the #51-003 Chat Bubbles set. To finish off the card, I added a dry-embossed strip along the bottom.
