CAS Mixed Media Friendship card

Today I’m sharing a CAS friendship card featuring an umbrella die cut against a background created with a raindrop stencil and embossing paste.

Jean Manis Life Is GoodAfter stamping the card base, I applied embossing paste, which I colored with Salty Ocean Distress Ink, through the Raindrops stencil (I selectively masked off portions of the stencil so that the umbrella would appear to be keeping the sentiment dry. Once the embossing paste dried, I adhered the umbrella die cut. The canopy of the umbrella was cut from cardstock which I had colored with a combination of Distress Inks (reds and a little yellow) for a different project.

Dream Big

Today, I’m sharing a “just because” summer-themed CAS card.

I haven’t seen a lady bug in years, but fondly remember seeing them as a child! I stamped the sentiment from Hero Arts “Heyday Sentiments” set on the rectangular cardstock panel and then adhered the die cut leaves and lady bugs.

ColourQ Challenge #279

I’m playing along with ColourQ Challenge #279 – red, black, newsprint and a neutral. While my card isn’t specifically Valentine’s Day themed, it works well as a friendship card and could still work as a Valentine.

I wanted to add a border around the newsprint so that the off-white of the newsprint wouldn’t rest directly against the white card base. The black border also ties in the umbrella handle and the boots.
