Penny Black Guest Week: Day One

I’m over at the Penny Black blog this week showcasing stamps from the Penny Black Halloween release.

Head on over to find out what’s flying over the haunted mansion from Haunted Halloween!

I love the change of seasons in the fall, and Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays. While crafting this card, I thought about my favorite scary and Halloween-themed movies. Here’s what’s on my list: “Psycho,” “The Birds,” “Vertigo,” and  “Bell, Book and Candle.” Hmmmm….that’s a lot of Hitchcock! What’s your favorite scary or Halloween-themed movie?

Penny Black: Fall Cupcake Toppers

Fall is definitely upon us here in the Pacific Northwest with cooler temperatures and rain. I’m celebrating the change of seasons with some Pumpkin Spice cupcakes adorned with toppers, which I crafted using one of the adorable stamps from the Penny Black Halloween release — Halloween Critters set (#30-185).

Penny Black Halloween Cupcake Toppers

I think these toppers could work equally well for a fall birthday or Halloween party. The image was stamped with Versafine ink and clear embossed. I colored the owls with Copics in seasonal colors. The owl images were then cut with a circle die and adhered to scallop circle die-cuts. I taped a bamboo stick to one of the scallops and adhered it to the other scallop with a thin dimensional square.

Halloween Ghosts

Today, I’m sharing a Halloween card crafted from a design of Kristina Werner’s from last year’s Online Card Classes Kickstart class.

Halloween Ghosts

Kristina’s card was rectangular and featured a single ghost. I replaced the single ghost with this trio from Memory Box, cut from glitter paper. I also decided to eliminate the bottom section of Kristina’s design – this card is 4 1/2″ square. I’ve used dimensional adhesive on the ghosts and on the panel with the circle cut out. Unfortunately, my photo doesn’t show the dimension particularly well.

I’ve got several newly released Halloween paper pads in my stash that I’m looking forward to using this month and next. Growing up, Halloween colors were black and orange. Now we’ve got the traditional colors, as well as purple and green. I like having the additional variety for crafting!
