Poppystamps Tag Blog Hop

Welcome! If you are following along the blog hop you should have arrived at my blog from Ira’s.

I’m sharing two seasonal tags created with Poppystamps birdhouse and bird dies. I like having tags available that can be used for gift giving throughout the winter months. I also designed these tags with male recipients in mind – I’ve got two sons and a husband, so I’m always in need of gift-wrapping supplies that aren’t too girly.

The first tag pairs the Carolina birdhouse with the Peaceful bird. I cut the birdhouse several times and then pieced it together as I wanted the roof to be white, as if snow had fallen on the top. The snowflakes are the center of the small poinsettia die set. I finished the tag with a stamped sentiment, ribbon and baker’s twine. The tag measures 3″ wide x 5″ tall.

My second tag, which measures 2 1/2″ wide x 4″ tall, pairs the Evanston bird house with the Nestled bird, along with the “snowflakes.” Again, I finished the tag with a stamped sentiment, ribbon and baker’s twine.

Be sure to leave comments on all of the blogs – there’s hidden candy along the way. There will be three winners, who will each receive a prize. You have until December 8 to leave comments. Winners will be announced on December 9. You can get all of the details about the hop, including information about the prizes, on the Poppystamps Blog.

Be Merry

Today, I’m sharing a card created with one Kristina Werner’s designs from the Online Card Classes Holiday Workshop. There are still plenty of cards from class that I’d like to make!

Online Card Classes Holiday Workshop

Kristina stamped lines with pigment ink on her card. I tried this idea, but wasn’t able to stamp lines that looked sharp, so I created strips from patterned paper instead. I heat embossed green and red cardstock with Lawn Fawn stamps. The patterned paper is from one of last year’s Echo Park collections. I stamped the owl with Memento black ink and colored him (her?) with Copics. Even though I didn’t mind fussy cutting stamped images too much, I really like the Lawn Cuts companion dies!

Happy Thanksgiving

Best wishes for a wonderful Thanksgiving to those of you who celebrate the holiday.

I’m sharing a card created with the same design and the same stamp set I used for Pinspired Challenge #22. The Fresh Squeezed subway artwork sentiment stamp has three sentiment sets — one for Halloween, one for Thanksgiving and one for Christmas.

Happy Thanksgiving

Our family’s Thanksgiving will definitely include a few of the items on this list! Have a wonderful day!

Pinspired Challenge #22

The winner of this challenge will receive a 2.5” Create-a-Sticker from Xyron.

I was inspired by the design of the image. On my card, I combined a Fresh Squeezed subway artwork sentiment stamp with a patterned paper background. After heat embossing the sentiment, I used my finger to smudge the black cardstock with ColorBox white pigment ink to give a chalkboard effect.

Pinspired Challenge #22

Now, it’s your turn. Head on over to the Pinspired Challenges blog to see the creations from the rest of the “Pin Heads” and find out the details for playing along. Three runner ups will be chosen and win a “Pin Pal” badge for their blog. The winner will win a “Pin Perfect” badge for their blog, as well as the Xyron prize. We can’t wait to see your creations!

Penny Black – Magical Season

While I usually create holiday cards in traditional colors, I wanted to be a bit more whimsical with a card using Penny Black’s Dancing Deers stamp set [40-258].

Penny Black - Magical Season

I stamped the deer in a repeating pattern with a turquoise dye ink. I finished the card off with a heat-embossed sentiment from Yuletide Greetings [30-132] on pink cardstock. I can envision this card design in other color schemes – traditional or otherwise!
