Penny Black | Dance in the Rain

Hello! Today I am sharing a friendship card created with Penny Black supplies featuring a water-colored image from the Dance in the Rain stamp set. This set was introduced in June 2021. It has been a while (several years!) since I have colored with watercolors.

Penny Black | Dance in the Rain

  • Stamp Dance in the Rain image with VersaFine ink on Arches Cold Pressed Watercolor Pad.
  • Color image with Gansai Tambi paints. I used 44 brown, 63 blue, 32 red, 43 yellow, 54 green, 35 pink, 20 black.
  • Stamp image on to masking paper and fussy cut. Once image is dry, add mask to image and apply Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink for sky and Mowed Lawn for the ground. Cut with circle in the Hero Arts set.
  • Create card background from patterned paper and attach to A2-size card base.
  • Cut Dream Big sentiment twice (for extra depth). I like this sentiment a lot and think it pairs nicely with the dogs sharing an umbrella.
  • Add sentiment and image circle to background; embellish with enamel dots (Taylored Expressions brand shown).

Penny Black | Thank You Bouquet

Hello! Today I am sharing a card created combining Penny Black supplies – dies, background stamp, and clear stamp set. I previously created similar cards that can you see here and here.

I primarily used Bazzill Card Shoppe cardstock on this card. The specific colors are listed below. I have found starlitstudio.net to be a great resource for Bazzill Card Shoppe.

  • Stamp Enlightened background on Citrus Slice card base with Memento Cantaloupe ink for a tone-on-tone look.
  • Cut Creative Curves from Robin’s Egg cardstock; back with Jawbreaker panel.
  • Cut Daisy Delight from white and Caramel Apple cardstock. Trim off blooms and add to stems. Color centers of flowers with Copic markers Y 32 and Y 38.
  • Cut Penny Black Mason Jar (available on the Penny Black website) from Sea Glass cardstock. Cut a slit in the jar for the stems; color with Distress Oxide ink for dimension. Slip assembled flowers through the slit and tape on back. Tie natural twine around the top.
  • Stamp Flower Teddy sentiment on white cardstock in black ink. Trim with banner die.
  • Add Creative Curves assembly to card base. Add assembled jar and flowers. Add sentiment strip. Embellish with butterfly cut with die in the Penny Black Flights of Fancy set (available on the Penny Black website).

Penny Black Winter Wishes

Hello! Today, I am sharing a CAS winter-themed card created with Penny Black supplies. Although, I used Christmas colors, the design could be created in non-Christmas colors for a winter friendship card.  This design is similar to a card I made at the same time last year. What’s different with this version? Most notably, it’s A2-sized, and I used the 30-881 When Snow Falls sentiment and a die in the 51-717 Border Collection. By using the Border Collection edge, I eliminated the need to frame the card.

Penny Black Winter Wishes

  • I heat-embossed the 30-881 When Snow Falls sentiment in Red Geranium on off-white cardstock and trimmed the panel.
  • I cut the 51-667 Winter Greens from green cardstock.
  • I cut the strip from the same green cardstock (to finish off the left-side edge of the 51-667 Winter Greens) using one of the 51-717 Border Collection dies.
  • I cut the birds from red cardstock with dies in the 51-657 Wildwood set.
  • I glued the Winter Greens/Border Collection assembly to the sentiment panel and added the birds with foam adhesive.
  • I added Stickles to the berries.

Penny Black Winter View

Hello! Today I am sharing a winter-themed card created with Penny Black supplies. I previously shared a card with the 51-724 Viewpoint die set here.

Penny Black Winter View

  • I die-cut the set 51-724 Viewpoint from white and dark gray cardstock, taping the dark gray pieces to the back of the white window frame.
  • I stamped the 40-764 All Things Evergreen trees in Mowed Lawn and Rustic Wilderness oxide inks on a white cardstock panel.
  • On the panel with the stamped trees, I applied Texture Paste through the Large Falling Snow Slimline stencil and added Rock Candy glitter. I set the glittered trees aside to dry.
  • I die-cut the 51-717 Border Collection border for a snowdrift and trimmed it to fit beneath the trees.
  • I heat-embossed the 30-257 Joy Filled sentiment in Red Geranium and cut it with a banner die.
  • Once the paste was dry, I assembled the card, adding it to a red cardstock base. I embellished with snowflakes cut with the 51-708 Dancing Snowflakes set from Sugar Coated cardstock.
