Penny Black Great Day

Today I’m sharing a card created with Penny Black stamps and die cuts featuring the combination of coral and turquoise.

GreatDay

I created the card background with Distress Inks which were applied to watercolor paper, spritzed, and dried and then more color was applied. Once the panel was dry, I heat embossed it using the Penny Black Dotted Fusion [#40-278] background stamp. I die cut the dragonflies with the Flutters [#51-006] set from watercolor paper that had been similarly colored with Distress Inks in shades of blues. The circle was cut from watercolor paper and stamped with a sentiment from the Amazing [#30-243] stamp set.

Penny Black Father’s Day

I couldn’t resist crafting a tie card for Father’s Day using  the Penny Black Amazing [#30-243] stamp set and coordinating Dapper [#51-049] die cut.

FathersDayTie

I die cut the tie (with collar) first and then stamped it with the coordinating tie stamp using VersaFine Onyx Black ink. I machine stitched the gray cardstock panel. The patterned paper card panel is from my stash.

Penny Black Right Direction

Today, I’m sharing a friendship card that could be sent for a variety of occasions. It’s crafted using a recently released Penny Black stamp set and a die cut.

PBRightDirection

To begin, I inked the sign post from the …Lost Without You  [#30-248] stamp set and stamped it  into the woodgrain stamp from the Inspiring [#40-113] set, which I had inked with a darker ink color. I then stamped it onto kraft cardstock. I fussy cut the stamped sign post and added distress ink to the edges. The sentiment is also from the …Lost Without You  set. To finish off the card, and to tie in the colors from the patterned paper, I cut a bird with one of  the Tweet Things [ #51-050] dies.

Butterfly Thank You

Today, I’m sharing a card created with some Penny Black stamps and die cuts in which I’ve paired feminine (the delicate floral) and masculine (the woodgrain) motifs.

ButterflyThanks

I started by inking the  Penny Black Star Ivy [#40-310]  background with Peacock Feathers Distress Ink. I misted the stamp until the ink started to pool, at which point I pressed watercolor paper onto the stamp. As I let that dry, I applied Worn Lipstick Distress Ink directly to watercolor paper from which I die cut the  butterflies using the Penny Black Flutters [#51-006] set. (I also die cut the butterflies from blank watercolor paper, as I wanted the die cuts to have some depth.) I stamped the woodgrain using the Inspiring [#40-113] stamp set with Versamark for a tone-on-tone look. The sentiment is from Penny Black’s Special Wishes [#30-229].

Penny Black Father’s Day Card

Today, I’m sharing a masculine card created with the Penny Black …Lost Without You  [#30-248] stamp set from the new Sunny Stamping release. This stamp set lends itself to a variety of masculine cards including birthday, graduation, new job or promotion, and Father’s Day.

FathersDay2014I used the compass in the set to stamp a tone-on-tone background. I stamped the suit twice, once in brown and again in rust, and fussy cut the rust one to use for the tie. The sentiment was stamped twice as well. I first stamped “lost” and then masked that word when I stamped the rest of the sentiment.

For a new job or promotion card, it would be fun to choose a different color for the suit and tie like navy or gray.
