Spellbinders September 2020 Small Die of the Month

Hello! Today, I am sharing fall-themed cards created with this month’s Small Die of the Month kit at Spellbinders – “Hello & Thank You.” The kit is named for the word and letter dies included in the kit, which also includes frame and floral element dies.

On my first card, I used the set’s more ornate frame piece with the “thank you” sentiment set against a dry-embossed background.

  • I dry-embossed the soft-blue background with the Changing Seasons folder.
  • I die-cut the frame piece (twice), the sentiment, and the flower pieces.
  • I created the frame, adhered the floral pieces and added the assembly to the dry-embossed background.
  • I adhered the sentiment in the center and small flowers around the frame, to which I added centers created with a hole punch.
  • I added the panel to a white cardstock mat which I adhered to a patterned-paper card base.

My second card uses the HELLO sentiment with the kit’s other frame set against a stenciled background.

  • To create the background, I stenciled the Four Layer Leaves Stencil with metallic inks and a deep orange ink.
  • I die-cut the frame from copper foil. I cut four pieces to make two frames. I die-cut the sentiment from cardstock colored with the same orange ink used on the background. I die-cut flowers from the orange cardstock and leaves from matte silver cardstock .
  • I traced a diamond shape on vellum and cut it with scissors.
  • I glued two of the frame pieces together and glued the vellum diamond  to the back. I glued the second assembled frame at a slight rotation.
  • I glued the frame assembly to the stencil panel and glued the sentiment across the middle.
  • I added the flowers and leaves.
  • The assembled panel was added to a brown cardstock mat adhered to a matte silver card base.

Spellbinders – Halloween Witch

Hello! Today I am sharing a CAS Halloween card created with Spellbinders supplies. I kept with a traditional color scheme using patterned papers and glossy black cardstock from my stash.

Spellbinders - Halloween Witch

  • I cut the witch and bats from a glossy black cardstock (Stampin’ Up from several years ago).
  • I glimmer-foiled the Spooky Greetings sentiment with black foil on Whip Cream cardstock.
  • I used the Nested Clipped Squares to create two frames, one cut from patterned paper and the other (slightly smaller) from vellum.
  • I adhered the frames to another patterned paper.
  • I added the assembly to a card base covered with a gold glitter cardstock.
  • I added the sentiment strip followed by the witch and bats popped up with foam adhesive.

Spellbinders August Clubs Blog Hop

My first card was created with a traditional color scheme of red, green, and gold.

  • I cut two of the shapes in the the August Small Die of the Month kit from gold foil cardstock (each four times).
  • I cut green cardstock with one of the dies, four times, to create an inlay on four of the shapes.
  • I cut the center medallion from gold foil cardstock.
  • I glimmer-foiled the Holiday Sentiments Series 2 sentiment in Matte Gold on white cardstock and cut it with the die in the sentiment set.
  • I adhered the eight pieces around the center medallion on a red cardstock square measuring 4 1/2″. I adhered the sentiment strip to the center.
  • I added the assembly to a Brush Gold card base measuring 4 5/8″ square.

On my second card, I used a non-traditional color scheme of red, light teal, white, and silver.

  • I cut one of the Small Die of the Month set’s shapes six times, three times from a light teal and three times from white cardstock.
  • I swapped the centers so that the inlay piece was the opposite color of the outline.
  • I adhered the shapes to red cardstock dry-embossed with the Falala folder.
  • I glimmer-foiled the Holiday Sentiments Series 2 sentiment in Matte Silver and cut it with its corresponding die.
  • I added the sentiment to the panel and the assembly to a 4 1/4″ square white card base.

Spellbinders – Halloween and Fall Foiled Projects

Hello! I’m delighted to be a guest on the Spellbinders blog sharing cards that showcase some of the just-released products in their Halloween & Fall 2020 Collection.

For both of the cards, I foiled images on colorful cardstock. Although I’ll be sad to see summer end, I’m excited about the upcoming season. I’m a self-professed Halloween fan, in large part because of the colors!
