Simon Says Stamp – Time for a Break

Hello! Today, I am sharing a CAS friendship card featuring Simon Says Stamp products – the Abstract Triangle stencil and a sentiment from the Vacation Time set.

I applied Distress Oxide inks through the Abstract Triangle stencil.
I cut the stenciled panel with a 4″ square die at an angle to the pattern.
I heat-embossed the sentiment and cut it with a skinny die in the A-2 Matting Basics set.
I added the panel to a square card base and popped the sentiment up with foam adhesive.

Buffalo-Plaid Coffee-Themed Friendship Card

Hello! Today I am sharing a card created with Spellbinders and Fun Stampers Journey supplies, including the Fun Stampers Journey Buffalo Check stencil, generously provided to me by Spellbinders. I’ve crafted a coffee-themed friendship card using the stencil to make the background paper.

To begin, I inked red cardstock with Walnut Stain Distress Ink through the stencil.
I cut the Coffee Brewing coffee pot using the Coffee Brewing die from silver cardstock and backed the openings with white cardstock.
I cut the coffee cups, cup handles, and coffee beans with the Cup and Beans die set.
I adhered a patterned paper strip to the base of the Buffalo Check background and added the coffee pot, assembled coffee cups, and coffee beans to the scene.
The sentiment (from “Coffee Break” MFT Stamps set) was stamped with Walnut Stain ink and cut using a long, skinny rectangle die in the Matting Basics B set.

I’ll definitely be pulling out this stencil again!

Only A Shower – CAS Die-cut Encouragement Card

Hello! Today I am sharing a CAS encouragement card combining die-cuts and a Distress Oxide ink background. Appropriately, it began to rain just as I finished this card!

I created the background with Distress Oxide Pumice Stone and Tumbled Glass inks. I added a little Broken China at the top of the blue and a little Hickory Smoke at the bottom of the gray. I cut the panel with a square die.
With a now-retired Memory Box Umbrella die (one of the very first dies I ever purchased), I cut the umbrellas from cardstock colored with Hickory Smoke (umbrella shafts), Peacock Feathers and Squeezed Lemonade (umbrella canopies), and Black Soot (handles and end). I pieced the umbrellas together by performing some fussy cutting (the die is one-piece).
I cut the Happy Clouds from white cardstock and backed them with cardstock colored with Black Soot.
I applied Moonstone Glimmer paste through the MFT Raindrops stencil (retired) in select places. The SSS Raindrops stencil has similarly-sized raindrops.
I heat-embossed the You Got This sentiment on black cardstock and cut it with one of the Lawn Fawn banner dies.
I dry-embossed the card base with the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder from Stampin Up’ (retired).

A Cool Yule – Die-cut Penguin

Hello and Merry Christmas! This is my final Christmas card for the season. I have so many more ideas, but between shopping, baking, and so forth, I just don’t have the time to turn those ideas into cards.

For this last card, I am showcasing the recently released Cool Yule die set designed by Tim Holtz, using a design similar to this tag. I am combining some of my favorite cardmaking things: stamped graphic background, die-cutting, stenciling, and heat-embossing.

I stamped the Buffalo Plaid Background for the card background.
I die-cut the Cool Yule penguin and assembled it with glue. I cut a circle of Woodgrain Vellum (gifted to me by a friend) to which I attached the penguin.
I heat-embossed the sentiment and cut it with one of the tag dies in this set and trimmed the bottom a bit, so that the tag would fit better on the card base.
I placed another vellum circle (of the same size) on the tag before I applied embossing paste through the Snowed In stencil. The circle worked as a mask. I masked the sentiment area with washi.
I finished the tag off with Peppermint twine before attaching it to the card base.

Simon Says Stamp – Wrap It Up Challenge Tag

Hello! I couldn’t resist playing along with the Simon Says Stamp challenge with a CAS tag in one of my favorite color combinations – kraft, white, and red – using my favorite papercrafting techniques – diecutting, heat-embossing, and stenciling! The challenge features holiday wrapping projects created with Tim Holtz products. I used Tim Holtz dies, stamps, and stencils on my project. Let’s take a look.

- I started by die-cutting the Santa and Snow Globe with the Tiny Snowglobes set.
- I assembled the Santa with Nuvo glue. I used a toothpick to apply the glue.
- I heat-embossed the Festive Overlay sentiment with Red Geranium embossing powder on the Lawn Fawn Kraft cardstock.
- I cut the cardstock with one of the tag dies in the Tag Collection set.
- I added embossing paste through the Dot Fade stencil to the globe to simulate snow.
- While the embossing paste dried, I sponged white pigment ink through the Pine stencil, which is included in the Mini Stencil Set 32.
- I finished off the tag with Lawn Fawn Peppermint twine (an absolute favorite of mine).
