Enjoy Life

I’ve been playing with Taylored Expressions stamps and dies this month, and today, I’m sharing a card created with the Hangin’ Out – At the Beach stamp set. It’s hot here in the Pacific Northwest, unusually so for the region, and the beach sounds like the perfect place to be at the moment!

Enjoy LifeI colored the palm tree and the surfboard with Copics; I stamped both on Gina K layering weight cardstock. I used the coordinating die to cut the palm tree; I fussy cut the surfboard. I used the Mama Elephant die set to cut the sandy hill, placed in front of two lines of waves cut with the Taylored Expressions Wave Border.

Hope you’re staying cool wherever you are today!

Supplies: Taylored Expressions Hangin’ Out – At the Beach stamp set, Wave Border die, Palm Tree die; Stampin’ Up cardstock (waves); Mama Elephant Landscape Trio; MFT Blueprints 1; Memory Box Marshmallow Clouds

Hip Hip Hooray!

There’s a new challenge over at Stamp Nation – to create a card with Red, White and Blue, one of my favorite combinations! I paired those colors with the sketch from Mojo Monday 352.

Hip Hip Hooray!

This card is 3 1/2″ wide by 5 1/2″ tall. I used a Tim Holtz embossing folder to dry emboss navy Stampin’ Up cardstock. The stars were cut from several different My Favorite Things die cuts using Stampin’ Up and Bazzill cardstock. The patterned paper strip is from the Carta Bella, Ahoy collection. I stamped the Stampin’ Up Hip Note sentiment with Stampin’ Up navy ink.

Have a happy and safe 4th of July!

Lawnscaping #84: Stars and Stripes

I’m delighted to be guest designing over at Lawnscaping Challenges today!

Lawnscaping Challenge Number 84 is all about incorporating Stars & Stripes on your project. The prize for this challenge is a free stamp set of the winner’s choice from Lawn Fawn.

With July 4th around the corner, I created a red, white and blue card featuring both stars and stripes.
YoureAStarJMI stamped the fireworks from the Happy 4th set in white pigment ink on the card base front. I die cut the stars from the Stitched Journaling Card set repeatedly to create the rows of stars. I then backed the journaling card with stripes in blue and red. The sentiment from Lucky Stars was heat embossed on a red stripe.

Be sure to head on over to Lawnscaping Challenge to see what the Design Team has done for this challenge! Hope you’ll play along!

Hello Sunshine

While I was crafting my card as a guest designer for Lawnscaping Challenge Number 83, I created another summer-themed card.

LFWatermelon

Lawnscaping Challenge Number 83 is all about using heat or dry embossing on your project.  I heat embossed the watermelons and the ant. The watermelons are colored with Copic markers. I kept the background simple with bright-colored, solid cardstock.

Have you played along yet? There’s a prize of a $25 gift certificate to Simon Says Stamp! Head on over to the Lawnscaping Challenge to enter! You have until  Wednesday, June 11th, 2014 to submit your entries!

Poppystamps: A Perfect Summer’s Day

For me, summer begins in June, no matter what the weather. The ingredients for a perfect summer’s day? Blue sky, a few puffy clouds, and a bike ride!  My card celebrates summer with a combination of Poppystamps dies and a stamp.

Poppystamps: A Perfect Summer's Day

I stamped the Poppystamps Basket Bicycle in pink and cut it out with its companion die. I cut the Wildflower Patch die several times, in green and in colors for the flowers, putting some in the bicycle’s basket and others along the picket fence. The bicycle and clouds are attached to the card with dimensional adhesive.

No matter what the season, I hope it’s sunny where you are!
