Haunted Halloween – TE Share Joy Challenge #48

Hello! I’m playing along with Taylored Expressions Share Joy Challenge #48.

TE Share Joy Challenge #48

I used the sketch to create a CAS Halloween card:

TE Share Joy Challenge #48

I used the 13 Dead End Drive die (trimming off the bottom section) to create the haunted house and witch. I backed the windows with grey cardstock and the moon with white cardstock (I normally put yellow in for moons, but I wanted to keep the color palette quiet). I used old Halloween patterned paper for the background (I have a ton of patterned paper packs for Halloween!). I used a thin tape from my stash (never before used!) for the detail strips. I stamped the Boo to You set sentiment onto cardstock, which I cut with the smallest Stitched Rectangle Stacklets die (by cutting and then cutting again to shorten the length). The bats are from the just-released Haunted Accessories set.

Taylored Expressions Faith-Based Projects

Hello! Today, I’m sharing two faith-based projects created with Taylored Expressions products (supplies are listed below each project).

My first project showcases the Shade Tree Cutting Plate which I crafted with fall colors.

Taylored Expressions Faith-Based Projects

I cut Woodgrain Textured Cardstock Pack with the Shade Tree Cutting Plate and embellished it with leaves cut from the TE 6×6 Paper Pack – Playful Patterns – Haunted (the polka-dot patterns in this pack are perfect for autumn) with the On a Limb – Leaves die. I added a sentiment from the Shade Tree Scripture set stamped with the TE Premium Ink – Chocolate Truffle – Full Pad ink.

For my second project, I created a bookmark combining the Build a Bookmark set with a sentiment from the In the Word set.

I stamped the sun and sentiment from In the Word, cut the cardstock with the bookmark die and embellished with the die-cuts. I used the Mark Your Spot Bookmark die to cut another slightly larger bookmark from the Cookie Monster cardstock.

Boo! – TE Share Joy Challenge #47

Hello! I’m playing along with Taylored Expressions Share Joy Challenge #47.

TE Share Joy Challenge #47

I used the sketch to create a CAS Halloween card (which is more on the cute side than the spooky):

TE Share Joy Challenge #47

I used Chalkstock for the Little Bits – Black Cat and the crow (raven?) in the Gothic Window Accessories set. It’s such a rich black color.

The Gothic Window assembly is lifted up with foam adhesive. I cut the window background from the TE 6×6 Paper Pack – Playful Patterns – Haunted with one of the Label Stacklets 5 dies.

Witch’s Fireside Scene + Tutorial

Welcome to the Taylored Expressions August 2016 Release! All of the products that we have been sharing this week are now available in the TE store!

Before you head off to shop, I have one more project to show you! My card showcases the By the Fireside die set. I’m a big fan of Halloween, and I’ve always liked witches, starting with the TV show “Bewitched.” This fireplace belongs in a witch’s home. She’s got her boot off (and on the mantel) and she’s got the fire blazing.

TE August 2016 Release

Today, I’m sharing tips and tricks that I use when piecing together a die-cut scene, especially one with smaller die-cuts. For many years I had glue/tape phobia! But with the right tools and adhesives I’ve overcome my fears.

To begin, I cut the fireplace mantel from Poppy Seed cardstock. The die creates an indentation to simulate the mantel’s details.

To highlight those details, I lightly applied the Sugar Cube ink to the mantel and worked my way around.

While that dried, I cut the brick part of the fireplace from Jelly Donut cardstock and dry-embossed it with the Brick embossing folder.

I cut a piece of TE Oreo cardstock, slightly larger than the brick part, to simulate the interior of the fireplace. I used double-sided tape to adhere the pieces together.

I taped those pieces to the back of the fireplace mantel.

To adhere the smaller die-cut pieces, such as the fire flames, I put a dab of Ranger Multi-Matte Medium onto a piece of paper and dipped the die cut piece, which I held with the Embellie Gellie. This is my “go to” method for adhering the Little Bits die cuts. I assembled the Broom, the Cauldron and the Potion Bottles in this manner.

To create the buttons on the Witch’s Boot, I backed the die cut with a small piece of TE Lemon Meringue cardstock and attached it with a sliver of tape.

Finally, whenever I want to pop up a small die-cut in a scene, such as the spiders, I cut small pieces of foam adhesive. I have a pair of scissors which I only use to cut adhesives!

I decorated the On a Limb – Branches with fall-colored leaves, also cut with the On a Limb – Leaves die. The Hoot Hoot Hooray stamp & die combo sentiment was stamped inside a Little Bits – Let’s Talk Bubble 1.
