Taylored Expressions Holiday Neighborhood

Today I’m sharing a holiday card featuring the Taylored Expressions Neighborhood Border die.

I decided to keep the colors simple, as if the neighborhood had recently been carpeted with snow (and from the looks of the dry embossed background, it’s still snowing!). I backed the neighborhood border die cuts and the evergreen die cuts with a soft yellow cardstock. I almost always include a sentiment on the card front but decided to leave it off this time to preserve the tranquility!

Let It Snow

I’ve had these penguins and snowbanks on my worktable for several months! We’ve had a particularly chilly couple of days, so I thought it was time to put this card together.

I had been playing around with different backgrounds, and the Taylored Expressions embossing folder gives just the right scale snowfall for the rest of the scene. I dry embossed the cardstock with my Big Shot extended multipurpose platform on Tab 1. This gave just a bit more depth to the embossing. I cut the penguins twice and adhered them together for extra depth. The front two penguins and front two snowbanks are attached with dimensional adhesive as well.

I’m playing along with colourQ challenge #263 this week with a Halloween-themed card.

The Taylored Expressions Neighborhood reminds me of a nearby neighborhood to which I like to walk. It’s not far away from a park in which there’s a “Fright Night” held each year, and tonight is their opening night.

After heat embossing the SU sentiment, I backed the windows with orange and yellow strips. I added a strip of polka-dot patterned paper at the bottom for a bit of visual contrast.

ColourQ Challenge #260

Today I’m sharing a card created for colourQ challenge #260.

This is such a delightful color combination for the fall. I grew up in Denver; the Broncos football team colors are orange and blue. I had at least one school outfit that was pumpkin and navy!

The branches, from a Taylored Expressions die set, were cut from a woodgrain textured cardstock. I double cut the birds, (from the same TE set), adhered them together and put them onto the branches with dimensional adhesive. The navy background was cut with a Lil’ Inker stitched rectangle die. The sentiment, from a Taylored Expressions stamp set, was heat embossed.

For my HOME-themed card – a neighborhood scene set in the fall – I combined die cuts from several Taylored Expressions sets (Neighborhood Border and Build A House) with a sentiment from the TE Welcome Home stamp set.
