Spellbinders Christmas 2021 – Open House Collection – Part One

Hello! I am delighted to be sharing a Christmas card created with the just-released Open House Collection at Spellbinders. This collection can be used for a variety of holidays and occasions. Doors are one of my favorite card motifs. The idea of having friends and family at our door and into our home, after this past year plus, is a welcome idea! I will share another card from the collection tomorrow (the one on the left in the photo below).

Spellbinders Christmas 2021 - Open House Collection

The card I am sharing today measures 6 inches tall by 6 1/4 inches wide when fully opened. When closed, the card is 3 1/8 inches wide. I used double-sided, patterned paper for my base. The paper was scored so that two panels open to reveal the Christmas door in the center with stacks of packages on either side.

I die-cut two Topiary from Brushed Gold cardstock, glitter cardstock, brown cardstock, and gold foil and assembled the pieces.

I die-cut the door and side panels with the Open Door Base and Side Panel die sets from red felt cardstock, and Snowdrift cardstock. For the window panes, I die cut as vellum adhered to cardstock to which I added Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink.

I glimmer foiled the Tis the Season sentiment on to red felt cardstock and trimmed in so that it would fit on the door in the mail slot area. The top arched window was decorated with greenery and a bow.

I used the Shopping Spree set to cut stacks of packages from patterned paper and gold foil. I chose to keep the packages flat since the panels closed. If this had been a non-folding card, I would have popped them up with foam adhesive.

Thanks for stopping by! I will share another card (the one shown on the left in the top photo) tomorrow.

Penny Black – Dream & Discover – Happy Camper

Hello! Along with the nautical theme, I am a big fan of the camping theme for summer cards. I used the newly-released 51-645 Campers die set from Penny Black on a CAS Happy Trails card that could work for variety of occasions such as a retirement or an upcoming vacation.

Penny Black – Dream & Discover – Happy Camper

  • The 51-567 Tree Border was die cut from Noble Fir cardstock and adhered added to the background. The border does not cut the bottom portion so the tree border can be cut to the size you want.
  • I stamped the 30-841 Happy Camper sentiment on to white cardstock and cut it with one of the dies in the 51-033 Silver Linings set. I cut a second cloud with the same die.
  • The camper was created with the inlay technique.  I cut textured, white cardstock with the 51-645 Campers set. I cut the door out of the camper. I cut the bolt detail out of the camper, with the door in place. I cut the camper from the red cardstock. I cut the bolt from the red camper using the top portion of a guide. I cut the bolt from brushed silver cardstock. I put the pieces together and cut the door again. I backed the assembly with yellow cardstock. The camper is taped together on the back.
  • I embellished with yellow accents – a butterfly (51-132 Flights of Fancy) and small flowers (51-618 Swinging).

Spellbinders July 2021 Clubs Blog Hop

Hello! I am delighted to be participating in a blog hop sharing projects created with the Spellbinders July 2021 Club Subscriptions. You should have reached me from the blog of Emily Midgett. (The entire list of participants is included at the end of my post.) For the hop, I created a birthday card using this month’s Large Die of the Month kit “Mini Slimline Envelope and Nested Card Creator.” I previously shared another card created with the kit here. I couldn’t resist creating another red, white, and blue card for a summer birthday!

To celebrate this release, Spellbinders is giving away a $50 gift certificate to 3 lucky blog readers – selected from the comments on the Spellbinders blog. Giveaway closes on Sunday, July 18, 11:59 pm MST. The winner will be announced in the blog hop post the following Tuesday. The winner is responsible for shipping cost, duties and taxes. Please note: store credit (gift certificate) cannot be applied to Club Subscriptions; store credit can be applied to shop past Club products, Club extras, and regular releases.

To create the card base, I used a previous Large Die of the Month kit – Colorbock Circles & Stripes – to cut stripes from red, white, and blue cardstock. For the stars layer, I applied embossing paste through the Star Bright Stencil. I embellished the card with flowers cut using the July Large Die of the Month kit and balloons cut using the Celebration Scene die set.
