Penny Black Halloween Scene

Hello!  Today, I am sharing a card in which I’ve combined several Penny Black supplies in a Halloween scene.

Penny Black Halloween Scene

I die-cut the #51-571 Vintage Truck and assembled it. (This die set includes an evergreen tree die for a Christmas scene, which I plan to create in a few weeks.)

I stamped, colored with Copic marker, and fussy-cut the costumed hedgehog from the #30-592 Critter Costumes set and placed him (her?) into the assembled truck. The witch is off to a Halloween event.

The background was stamped with the Penny Black #40-254 Decadence background stamp (a stamp I’ve had for several years). I really like the feel the background gives to the scene.  The sentiment was cut with a die in the #51-077 Eeek! die set.

What I like about this card: I really like transportation-themed dies and look for ways to use them in imaginative ways; I like the pairing of the elegant, formal background with the truck; I am particularly drawn to fall colors at the moment (more so than in previous falls, it seems) and like the gold, orange, and gray combination.

Penny Black Golden Delight Fall Wreath – Two Versions

Hello! Today I am sharing two versions of a CAS fall-themed design that showcases the #30-601 Golden Delight stamp set from Penny Black’s Autumn Bliss release.

Penny Black Golden Delight Fall Wreath - Two Versions

On one card, I heat-embossed the wreath with gold powder.

On the other, I stamped with Versafine ink.

On both cards, I watercolored the leaves with Distress Inks – Peeled Paint, Rusty Hinge, and Wild Honey.

I masked the sentiment to stamp the three words separately choosing cardstock colors that coordinated with the Distress Inks I used to watercolor.

A die (#51-589 Golden Delight Cut Out) can be purchased that cuts out the wreath; for these cards, I cut the wreath with a 4″ square die and added the watercolored image to a 4 1/4″ card base. The sentiment strips were added to the center of the wreath with foam adhesive.

What I like about these cards: I like the look of watercolor and the watercoloring on this image was straightforward; I like creating different versions of the same design; even though it took a little longer, I like the idea of breaking up sentiments in the manner I did on these cards; I enjoyed tying the Distress Ink colors I used for the watercoloring with cardstock colors I used for the sentiment strips.

Freshly Made Sketches #403

Hello! I am sharing a card created for the Freshly Made Sketches #403 Challenge.

I mulled this design over and over and considered Christmas- and fall-themed approaches. However, I really wanted to make more Halloween cards and remembered the Candy Shoppe die set from Taylored Expressions.

The sentiment is from the SU Ghoulish Greetings (now retired). I dry-embossed the SU Lemon-Lime Twist (now retired) background for visual interest.

Penny Black Critter Costumes – Halloween Tags

Hello! Today I am sharing treat tags created with Penny Black supplies showcasing the newly-released #30-592 Critter Costumes stamp set. I’m a big fan of Halloween (and treats!).

I stamped four of the costumed critters in the set and colored the images with Copic markers. I fussy cut the critters and added them to tags which I crafted with the #51-007 Tagged die set.

Some of the tags were stamped with the #40-144 Dots In Space background stamp while others were dry-embossed.

I mixed and matched for variety. The sentiments were cut from the #51-077 Eeek! die set. I originally cut the sentiments in black but they showed up much better in white.

My Favorite Things – Fall-themed Bird House

Hello! Today I am sharing a fall-themed card featuring the Birds of a Feather and Birdhouse die sets from My Favorite Things. I have previously created cards with this same design and same two die sets: a spring-themed Congratulations card and one for the Fourth-of-July.

My Favorite Things - Fall-themed Bird House

  • I die-cut the birds, birdhouse, and floral pieces from solid cardstock and patterned paper in my stash.
  • I assembled the pieces with Tonic Nuvo glue and added them to a panel cut from SU Old Olive with a now-retired MFT Blueprints set. I dry-embossed the panel with the Wood Grain folder.
  • I stamped the sentiment from Sweater Weather in the Woods with Night of Navy ink on an off-white rectangular panel.

What I like about this card: the bird and birdhouse scene; the color combination of orange, olive green, navy, and gold; the dry-embossed, wood grain background.
