TE August 2018 Release Sneak Peeks – Scary and Sweet

Hello and welcome to Day 1 of the Taylored Expressions August 2018 Release Sneak Peeks. The new release features Halloween and fall-themed stamps, dies, and other supplies including stencils, patterned paper, and two new TE colors! Today, my projects have a Halloween focus. The August 2018 release products being sneaked this week will be available Thursday, August 2 @ 7 AM PDT!

My first projects showcase the Under Wraps – Vampire and Under Wraps – Ghost sets. These sets are a fun way to package Halloween candy!

TE August 2018 Release

I stamped the faces from the the Under Wraps – Vampire set and then die-cut the body, adding the die-cut hair and shoes (too cute!) The set includes a die to cut a strip in to which you can slip the candy.

Similarly, for the ghosts, I stamped the faces from the Under Wraps – Ghost set and cut the bodies with the die.

Who doesn’t like to receive fun mail?! My second project is a Halloween card created with the Bubble Greetings – Halloween set and a Mail Art envelope stamped with the Spooky Mail set.

  • I heat-embossed the Bubble Greetings-Halloween on Sugar Cube cardstock. I heat-embossed the stamp again on Playful Patterns – Haunted patterned papers, which I fussy-cut and adhered to the panel.
  • I added a frame cut from Oreo cardstock with the Stitched Frame Stacklets 1 set.
  • I created a card base with paper in the Playful Patterns – Black & White set to which I added my panel.
  • To add sparkle and color, I adhered Build a Scene Halloween Sequins to the panel.
  • I stamped the Spooky Mail images on to a Toffee envelope and colored the images with colored pencil.
  • To dress up the envelope, I cut a liner from the Playful Patterns – Haunted patterned paper with the Scalloped Envelope Liner.

Simon Says Stamp Friendly Frolic Blog Hop

Hello! Today, I’m delighted to be sharing three projects as part of a Simon Says Stamp blog hop showcasing products from the FRIENDLY FROLIC release.

My first project showcases the Folk Dance die, with which I used the inlay technique (one of my favorites).

Simon Says Stamp Friendly Frolic Blog Hop

  • To create a frame for the pieces, I die-cut the Folk Dance panel several times from black cardstock and adhered the layers together. I backed the panel with white cardstock.
  • I used the Folk Dance die to cut the leaves and petals from colored cardstock and adhered the pieces into the frame.
  • I adhered the assembly to a card base.
  • I stamped the Big Thanks sentiment on a white cardstock strip with black ink.
  • I die-cut the Big Happy sentiment and applied it to the strip.
  • I adhered the strip to the card.

My second card features the Diamond Pattern die.

  • I inked a cardstock panel (masking as I went along) with Picked Raspberry, Spun Sugar, Twisted Citron, and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks and cut it with the Diamond Pattern die.
  • I adhered the panel over a similarly colored piece so that the diamond pattern revealed a second layer of color.
  • I added a sentiment cut with the You Da Best die.

My final project combines an image from the Plantiful Puns stamp set with the Diamond Pattern stamp.

  • I stamped the Plantiful Puns image and colored it with Copic markers.
  • I stamped the card front panel with the Diamond Pattern stamp using Versamark ink.
  • I cut a circle in the panel and adhered the plant image from behind.
  • I heat-embossed the Plantiful Puns sentiment on a strip, which I adhered just under the plant image.
  • I adhered the panel to a dry-embossed card base.

Spellbinders Layers of Flowers – Take Two

Hello! Today, I’m sharing a CAS card created with the Spellbinders Layers of Flowers die set. This is my second card using this die set. My first take had a vertical orientation.

Spellbinders Layers of Flowers - Take Two

The set, designed by Marisa Job, includes three different floral panels. I heat-embossed a sentiment on to a rectangular panel to which I attached the assembled layers. Two of the layers are cut from white cardstock, which puts the focus on the top detailed layer. I added small yellow circles to the centers of the flowers for additional color and to tie in with the patterned paper background.

Freshly Made Sketches 345

Hello! I am playing along with the Freshly Made Sketches #345 Challenge.
Freshly Made Sketches 345

For my CAS card, I combined a My Favorite Things die and stamp set (Die-namics Double the Smiles and All Smiles) with Carta Bella patterned paper and a Spellbinders flower (from the Die D-Lites Daisy set). I heat-embossed the sentiment from the All Smiles set with Ranger Red embossing powder.

On CAS cards, I tend to start out with the mindset of “Oh, this won’t take any time at all”! I quickly realize that because there are so few items on the card, the choices have to work just right. I obsessed a lot over the colors and patterned paper with this card.
