Simon Says Stamp Folk Dance Stencil

Today, I’m sharing a CAS card featuring a background created with the Simon Says Stamp Folk Dance Stencil.

I applied embossing paste through the stencil on to Lawn Fawn Chili Pepper cardstock. While the embossing paste dried, I heat-embossed one of the sentiments in the Simon Says Stamp Choose Joy set (there are lovely images in this set as well, which I haven’t gotten around to using on a card) on to a white cardstock strip.

I’m looking forward to using this stencil again; I like its detail and pattern.

Paint Resist Background

Hello! I’m sharing a CAS “just because” friendship card. Today was a “get back into the saddle” day for cardmaking, and on those days, I often turn to cards I have already created and make changes here and there. The card design is based on one shown by Jennifer McGuire in the Online Card Classes Kick Start class and uses the paint resist technique shown in the Online Card Classes Inspiration Showcase course.

I applied Picket Fence paint to the Kaleidoscope Leaves Background and stamped on white cardstock. When the paint was dry, I applied Mermaid Lagoon and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide inks to the cardstock. I stamped the Simon Says Stamp Choose Joy sentiment with Archival Jet Black ink.

I cut the butterfly from white cardstock using the Paulina Butterfly die and dry-embossed it with an older Sizzix embossing folder. To finish, I rounded the corners with a Stampin Up’ Project Life punch; Jennifer rounded the corners on her cards using this design. When I first started making cards, I often rounded the corners, but now, I don’t as much.

You Bring Sunshine

Hello! Today, I’m sharing a “just because” friendship card combining products from several different manufacturers.

You Bring Sunshine

To begin, I stamped the Simon Says Stamp Choose Joy sentiment on cardstock and inked the My Favorite Things Radiating Rays stencil with  Spiced Marmalade and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide inks above the sentiment.

I cut the panel with one of the dies in Large Stitched Rectangle Stackables set and adhered it to a card base cut from Stampin Up Island Indigo, which I had dry-embossed with the Taylored Expressions Weathered folder.

To create the sand bar, I colored white cardstock with Distress Oxide inks in Antique Linen and Frayed Burlap and cut it with a die in the Marianne Design Tiny’s Lighthouse set. To create the seagull, I colored cardstock with Distress Oxide inks in Spiced Marmalade and Black Soot and cut it with pieces in the Marianne Design Eline’s Seagull & Friends set.

My Favorite Things – Hey, Honey Bunny

Hello! Today, I’m sharing a bunny-themed card created with the My Favorite Things Beach Bunnies set. The set is not Easter-themed, but I couldn’t resist using the set now that it’s spring and Easter is around the corner.

My Favorite Things - Hey, Honey Bunny

I stamped the bunny and beach hut images and colored them with Copic markers. I created the background with the Radiating Rays stencil using Squeezed Lemonade ink. I cut the hill from retired Memory Box paper (Latte) using one of the dies in the Snow Drifts die set.

Taylored Expressions – You Make Life Sweet

Hello! Today, I am sharing a friendship card created with Taylored Expressions products on which I use the design principle of repetition!
Taylored Expressions - You Make Life Sweet
I cut the Little Bits – Cupcake four times from cardstock that I had colored with Taylored Expressions inks in Strawberry Milkshake, Lollipop, and Cookie Monster. I added Distress Stickles to the frosting of the muffins and Nuvo drops to the cherries for texture and shine.
Taylored Expressions - You Make Life Sweet
I stamped the Toe-tally Awesome sentiment in Cookie Monster and Lollipop inks on the Misti and then cut it with the Sentiment Stacker 1 die.
For the card base, I used patterned papers from the Hello Happiness and Rainbow Brights packs, and to add texture, I dry-embossed Sugar Cube cardstock with the Lots of Dots embossing folder.
