CAS Winter Wishes

Hello! Today, I am sharing a CAS card created with a variety of supplies from my stash.

CAS Winter Wishes

I began by applying embossing paste to the Stampin’ Up Tranquil Tide cardstock panel through the Plaid stencil, which is included in the Tim Holtz Mini Stencils, Set 32 . While the embossing paste dried, I heat-embossed the sentiment from the Hero Arts Winter Wishes set on Stampin’ Up Real Red cardstock. To finish off the card, I added the die-cut Taylored Expressions Little Bits – Reindeer.

The Ton – Watercolored Poinsettia Close Up

Hello! Today, I am sharing a card created with The Ton’s Poinsettia Close Up stamp. It appears that 2017 is the year of the poinsettia! I have never before seen so many stamp sets featuring this flower as I have this year.

The Ton Poinsettia

I stamped and heat-embossed the stamp with WOW Iridium embossing powder on Canson Montval watercolor paper. I watercolored the image with Colorburst powders (dissolved) and once dry, I added shading with colored pencils. The Holiday Love Poinsettia sentiment was heat-embossed on vellum. I cut the watercolored image and added it to a gold metallic card base. The vellum is wrapped around the back of the watercolored panel.

I watched several watercoloring videos including one by Effie Cho and another by Janette Kausen before embarking on the watercoloring of this image.

Here in the Pacific Northwest, we have several garden centers who offer beautiful poinsettias this time of year. My husband and I recently visited Molbak’s to see their offerings – more than twenty varieties!

Hero Arts Watercolored Holiday Animals

Hello! Today, I am sharing a holiday card showcasing the Hero Arts’ Holiday Animals stamp set. I bought this stamp set last year (the year before?) and had never used it.

I stamped and heat-embossed two of the images from the stamp set on Canson Montval watercolor paper. I colored them with a combination of Distress Inks and Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors.

I inked the same watercolor paper with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink on which I stamped the trees (and then cut with their corresponding dies). The background was inked with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink. The patterned paper card base is from a Lawn Fawn 6 x 6 pad released several years ago.

TE Merry & Bright Holiday Die-cut Door

Hello! Today, I am sharing a CAS holiday card created with Taylored Expressions supplies using a non-traditional color scheme.

TE Merry & Bright Holiday Die-cut Door

I was going to claim this as a “no stamps” card but then remembered I used the Snow Day Background! I started by stamping the background with Distress Oxide Peacock Feathers ink. Next I cut the door from Door to Door 2 from Lollipop cardstock. I backed the window with vellum and then again with Sugar Cube cardstock. The Little Bits – Ice Skates held with the bow in Ornament Accessories is the door decor. I cut snow for the top of the door with the Door to Door Winter Decor set. The sentiment is cut from Silver Foil with the Picture Perfect – Vertical die, trimmed and tucked behind the snow. The base needed some textured, so I dry-embossed Cookie Monster cardstock with the Diagonal Stripe embossing folder. And Santa has been by, so his (or hers?) sack, cut with dies in the By the Fireside – Santa set, are left at the door.

Merry Monday Christmas Challenge 264 – Kraft and Red

Hello! Today, I am sharing a holiday card created for this week’s Merry Monday Christmas Challenge to use Kraft and Red. This happens to be one of my favorite holiday color combinations.

Merry Monday Christmas Challenge #264

I created a card featuring two Memory Box poinsettia die sets – Small Blooming Poinsettia and Blooming Poinsettia. I connected the blooms with a die-cut sprig (it is cut in two underneath the large poinsettia), which was cut with the Memory Box Holiday Vine die from gold foil cardstock. I used Memory Box green paper for the leaves (no longer available) and Stampin’ Up Real Red for the poinsettias. The gold, heat-embossed sentiment is from the Stampin’ Up Embellished Ornaments set. After I had everything adhered, I took a look and felt the card looked a little blank. If I were a braver person, I might have sprinkled on Heidi Swapp Gold Color Shine Spray in a few places! Fearing that would cause a mess, I added Neat and Tangled sequins. This particular mix includes three different sequin sizes.

One of the things I particularly like about these challenges is that they provide an opportunity to revisit supplies I already own! These Memory Box dies are several years old.
