CAS(E) This Sketch #132 Guest Designer

I’m delighted to be a guest designer this week for the CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge #132.

Here’s my take on the sketch featuring a combination of Taylored Expressions die cuts:
CaseThisSketch-132-JM

To begin, I created a frame panel by die cutting with a nesting die. Next, I cut the Taylored Expressions Beach Border, onto which I had heat embossed the sentiment, and trimmed it, taping it to the back of the frame panel. I added the die cut sandcastle and flip flops to the beach border with dimensional adhesive. I adhered a yellow panel onto the heavyweight card base for the background. To finish, I adhered the white frame panel to the card base with dimensional adhesive.

Penny Black Simplicity – Winged Beauty

Today, I’m sharing two cards featuring Penny Black stamps #40-376 Winged Beauty and #30-297 Sprinkles and Smiles.

SoSweetBirdHorizontal

For both cards, I stamped the sentiment from #30-297 Sprinkles and Smiles first. I coloredthe bird on a branch and the branch images (from the #40-376 Winged Beauty set), with Memento markers before stamping. I tried a number of color combinations before selecting Bahama Blue, Tangelo, Bamboo Leaves and Rosebud. For the horizontal card, I cut the stamped panel with a rectangle die and adhered it with dimensional adhesive to a woodgrain-embossed cardstock.

SoSweetBirdVertical

For my second card, I stamped directly onto the card base for a one-layer card and used a vertical design.

Reverse Confetti Concentration/Memory Card Game

Today, I’m sharing a card game project created with Reverse Confetti stamps and Confetti Cuts. The game is “Concentration” (also known as the “memory game”) and requires pairs of cards.

I chose eight pairs for a total of sixteen cards. I stamped animals from the Later Alligator, Monkey Business, Leaping Lions and The Tweet Life stamp sets onto colored cardstock.

Concentrationstamping

Next, I cut the animals with their corresponding Confetti Cuts sets. I also cut sixteen playing card bases with the Woodgrain Confetti Cuts die from heavyweight white cardstock. The die cut is the perfect size for playing cards and the woodgrain gives a great texture. I adhered the animal die cuts onto the backside of the cards.

Concentrationcards

To play the game, the cards are flipped so that the images are hidden. The first player flips over two cards attempting to make a match.

Concentrationnomatch

If the player doesn’t make a match, the cards are turned back over and the next player tries to make a match.

Concentrationmatch

If the player makes a match, that player wins the pair and gets another turn. The player who makes the most matches (and collect the most pairs) wins!

Taylored Expressions Sunshine

Today, I’m sharing a summer-themed card featuring Taylored Expressions die cuts.

SunshineTo begin, I cut the Rolling Waves in two shades of blue and adhered the waves onto the orange card base with dimensional adhesive. I tucked the sun into the corner, attaching it with dimensional adhesive. I cut the Pool Party border in white cardstock and adhered the Sunshine die cut in the corner with Tombow glue. I attached the border onto the waves with dimensional adhesive. I would love to be in this scene right now! Hope you’re having a wonderful day!
