Today I’m sharing a card I created for the Lawnscaping Challenge in which I made a birthday card with heat embossing.
I really like the way that the white shows up against these vibrant colors. The new “Critters in the Forest” die cut made fast work in cutting out the raccoon!

Welcome! Today I’m sharing layouts I created with this month’s Simple Scrapper Premium Membership templates, as well as this month’s Story Starters.
This month, I turned to memories from 2000 for my layouts using the templates. We didn’t own a digital camera in 2000, or if we did, we didn’t take many photos with it. At any rate, I have a box of film prints from that year. Periodically I’ll go through the film boxes and scan photos. The beauty of scanning is that I can then crop the photos as I see fit, which I did with these.
I also scrapped a memory from a trip to DC, which we took in April 2000 just before we moved from Boston. I’ve never scrapped any of these photos, which are now 13 years old! I have dozens of photos from the trip, but I don’t have any current plans to scrap the trip as a whole. That being said, it was fun capturing a small piece of the trip.
Finally, I used one of the Story Starters – “Reflect on a relationship today using a photo of the relationship from the past” – to scrap my relationship with our Golden Retriever. I used colors for this layout that I don’t typically use – aqua and pink. Given that Ginger and I are the only two girls in the family, it was rewarding to create something more feminine for a change!

I’m going back through the Online Card Class Pattern Play class lessons to make cards which I didn’t make during the week of class. Today I’m sharing a card using the emboss resist technique inspired by one of Jennifer McGuire’s cards from the Day 2 lesson.
The tricky part in crafting this card is choosing the background stamp. The Hero Arts “Leaf and Floral” pattern provides the right amount of negative space so that enough of the patterned paper still shows through. I ironed the embossing off, after I applied the distress ink, per Jennifer’s instructions in the lesson. I’ve never done this before; I really like the results! To ensure that the papers coordinated with one another, I chose all of the papers from the MME “Quilting Bee” pad.

Time was running out for me to use the “Happy Easter” stamp set from Lawn Fawn! I created a springtime, Easter card to play along with this week’s Retrosketches sketch.
There’s a hint of Copic coloring on the rabbit, although it didn’t photograph well. The bunny is popped up with some dimensional adhesive. I cut the sentiment strip in half so that I could stack the greeting.

This really is a “just because” card! I wanted to make a card celebrating spring and what better way than with a bike and a clear sky!
The new “Bike with Basket” stamp has a hand-drawn feel to it and stamped well with the Versafine Smokey Gray ink. At a future point, I want to add something to the basket!
