Only A Shower – CAS Die-cut Encouragement Card

Hello! Today I am sharing a CAS encouragement card combining die-cuts and a Distress Oxide ink background. Appropriately, it began to rain just as I finished this card!

Only A Shower - CAS Die-cut Encouragement Card

  • I created the background with Distress Oxide Pumice Stone and Tumbled Glass inks. I added a little Broken China at the top of the blue and a little Hickory Smoke at the bottom of the gray. I cut the panel with a square die.
  • With a now-retired Memory Box Umbrella die (one of the very first dies I ever purchased), I cut the umbrellas from cardstock colored with Hickory Smoke (umbrella shafts), Peacock Feathers and Squeezed Lemonade (umbrella canopies), and Black Soot (handles and end). I pieced the umbrellas together by performing some fussy cutting (the die is one-piece).
  • I cut the Happy Clouds from white cardstock and backed them with cardstock colored with Black Soot.
  • I applied Moonstone Glimmer paste through the MFT Raindrops stencil (retired) in select places. The SSS Raindrops stencil has similarly-sized raindrops.
  • I heat-embossed the You Got This sentiment on black cardstock and cut it with one of the Lawn Fawn banner dies.
  • I dry-embossed the card base with the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder from Stampin Up’ (retired).

Keep Shining Bright – CAS Encouragement Card

Hello! Today I am sharing a CAS encouragement/friendship card in which I have combined a die-cut, a stencil, and a heat-embossed sentiment. I really like the versatility of this sentiment and its message. I am finishing out the week with another card featuring primary colors. What’s up with that?!

    • To begin, I applied Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide ink through the Radiating Rays stencil. I trimmed the stenciled panel to 4″ x 5 1/4″.
    • I heat-embossed the Seeing Stars sentiment (now retired) on SU Real Red cardstock. I cut the sentiment with the MFT Horizontal Hearts in a Row banner die (now retired).
    • I die-cut the lantern with a die in the Camping set (now retired) from SU Smoky Slate cardstock. I added a small die-cut circle, cut from cardstock to which I had applied Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide ink, as the light. I have a thing for these types of lanterns. They symbolize warmth and safety to me.
    • I cut a circle from SU Blueberry Bushel cardstock as a mat for the sentiment and the lantern. Both the sentiment and the lantern were added to the circle with foam adhesive.
    • I added the panel to a linen-card base. I’ve been using Bazzill 12″ x 12″ cardstock with a linen finish a lot lately because I just happened to have several pieces near my rotary cutter.

Simon Says Stamp LOVE Release

Hello! Today, I’m delighted to be sharing a CAS friendship/encouragement card created with the Simon Says Stamp Happy Clouds die as part of their LOVE release!

Simon Says Stamp Happy Clouds

I die-cut the Happy Clouds and backed them with black cardstock. I added a little color to the cheeks of two of the clouds with a Copic marker. I set those aside and stamped the sentiment from the You Got This set (lots of great sentiments for all sorts of occasions) on to a inked panel, (created with Distress  Oxide inks in Abandoned Coral, Spiced Marmalade, Fossilized Amber, and Peacock Feathers). Before adding the clouds to the panel, I applied BoBunny Sugar Glitter Paste to the background through the smallest raindrops on the Raindrops stencil.

Once the raindrops were dry, I added the clouds, popping up two of them with foam adhesive. For subtle texture, the card base was die-cut with the Stitched Woodgrain Backdrop.
