Penny Black | Happy Campers

Hello! Today I am sharing a card that features the adorable Penny Black stamp set – Happy Camper. I’ve brought to life a scene showing two furry friends sitting at a cozy campsite and roasting hot dogs. The Happy Camper stamp set was part of the Stamping with Scooter collection, introduced in 2021. As I have previously mentioned, I did not play enough with these products when they were introduced, and I am making up for that now.

I am a big fan of camping-themed cards, especially around this time of year. For me, camping symbolizes a sense of adventure and nostalgia.

    • Stamp image from Happy Camper set in VersaFine on Arches Cold Press watercolor paper; heat set. Color with watercolor mediums. Once dry, fussy cut.
    • With the Tall Trees die set, cut trees from Arches Cold Press watercolor paper; color with watercolor mediums. For additional color, add Distress inks to trees once they are dry.
    • Stamp sentiment from Happy Camper set on cloud cut with Silver Linings die. Cut additional cloud.
    • Create frame from white cardstock with the largest die in the MFT Rectangle Frame set.
    • To create background, add Wild Honey and Blueprint Sketch Oxide ink to white cardstock panel.
    • Add Rustic Wildnerness ink to cardstock and cut with the Rolling Hills die.
    • Add Chipped Sapphire ink to cardstock and cut with the hill die in the Festive Family die set.
    • Attach the two hill sections to back of frame and add to the background panel. Add to A2-size card base.
    • Add image with dogs to center of card with foam adhesive. Place trees into scene with dot and foam adhesive.

Penny Black – Dream & Discover – Happy Camper

Hello! Along with the nautical theme, I am a big fan of the camping theme for summer cards. I used the newly-released 51-645 Campers die set from Penny Black on a CAS Happy Trails card that could work for variety of occasions such as a retirement or an upcoming vacation.

  • The 51-567 Tree Border was die cut from Noble Fir cardstock and adhered added to the background. The border does not cut the bottom portion so the tree border can be cut to the size you want.
  • I stamped the 30-841 Happy Camper sentiment on to white cardstock and cut it with one of the dies in the 51-033 Silver Linings set. I cut a second cloud with the same die.
  • The camper was created with the inlay technique.  I cut textured, white cardstock with the 51-645 Campers set. I cut the door out of the camper. I cut the bolt detail out of the camper, with the door in place. I cut the camper from the red cardstock. I cut the bolt from the red camper using the top portion of a guide. I cut the bolt from brushed silver cardstock. I put the pieces together and cut the door again. I backed the assembly with yellow cardstock. The camper is taped together on the back.
  • I embellished with yellow accents – a butterfly (51-132 Flights of Fancy) and small flowers (51-618 Swinging).

The Adventure Begins – a Die-Cut Camping Scene

Hello! Today I am sharing a camping scene in which I have combined the Spellbinders Camping die set with a sentiment in the Hero Arts The Adventure Begins stamp set. With warmer weather here in the PNW, my thoughts turn to outside adventures.

To create the sky, I inked white cardstock with Distress Oxide inks in Fossilized Amber and Blueprint Sketch. I then added Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink to darken the sky.

The back row of trees was cut with the Poppystamps Pine Tree Border from black cardstock. The tent was cut from Chili Pepper cardstock and Taylored Expressions Earl Grey cardstock. I trimmed away the tent portion of the piece I cut from the gray cardstock. I cut the ground (using the MFT Snow Drifts die set) and the trees (included in the Spellbinders Camping die set) from Lawn Fawn Noble Fir cardstock. I cut the lantern from TE Silver Foil Cardstock and added a tiny circle cut from TE Potato Chip cardstock.

The sentiment was stamped on a panel of Taylored Expressions Toffee cardstock from which I cut the circle in the center to create a frame. The card base was created with Lawn Fawn Blue Jay cardstock.
