Halloween Watercolored Hedgehog-Penny Black Simplicity

Hello – it’s a beautiful fall day here in the Pacific Northwest, but rains are in the forecast for the next week! I’m sharing another CAS Halloween card featuring the Penny Black 30-318 Bewitched stamp set. (I blogged a card using a cat image from this stamp set here.)

Halloween Hedgehog - Penny Black Simplicity

I colored the adorable hedgehog with watercolor pencils and paint, and when dry, I fussy-cut the image, as well as the pumpkin balloon.

To frame my image, I cut a partial circle in a rectangular panel, which I then dry-embossed. I watercolored a teal blue background, onto which I stamped the hedgehog image again (to get the balloon string), when the panel was dry.

I cut the sentiment from watercolored cardstock with 51-077 Eeek! and added it to the rectangular panel (for extra depth I cut a second sentiment and glued the two together).

Before adhering the watercolor hedgehog to the background with foam adhesive, I glued down a small fence created with the 51-073 Haunted Hallow die set.

Taylored Expressions Patterned Paper Die-Cut Holiday Scene

Hello. Today, I’m sharing a CAS Christmas card showcasing the TE Build a Scene Christmas patterned paper pack.

TE Patterned Paper Christmas Scene

The TE Build a Scene Christmas pack contains papers with all-over patterns, such as the tree one I used in the back panel and the stripes used for the snowman’s scarf, as well as scenes, such as the one I used to place the Little Bits – Snowman. The beauty of these packs – the colors and patterns coordinate wonderfully!

I framed the snowman scene using the Picture Perfect – Vertical die. To add texture and visual interest, I scattered snowflakes cut with the Little Bits – Snowflake Confetti die.

Penny Black Simplicity – Merry and Bright

Hello! Today, I’m sharing a CAS Christmas card showcasing the Penny Black Slapstick/Cling background stamp 40-489 Elaborate.

To create the background panel, I applied Festive Berries and Wild Honey Distress Inks to the 40-489 Elaborate stamp allowing them to blend. I have a feeling that I’ll be using this background stamp in future holiday projects – can you see it stamped silver on deep red? gold on green?

The sentiment from 30-382 Yuletide Wishes was cut with a circle die. I added a vellum circle behind, cut with a die sized just larger than the white sentiment circle.

I cut the greenery with 51-262 Poinsettia Bough and 51-249 Winter Garland from watercolor cardstock colored with Peeled Paint, Wild Honey and Festive Berries Distress Inks.

I created a card with similar design and supplies for the Penny Black Simplicity site. I hope you’ll head over to take a look at that take!

So Sweet – TE Share Joy Challenge #55

Hello! I’m playing along with Taylored Expressions Share Joy Challenge #55.

TE Share Joy Challenge #55

I used the sketch to create a CAS friendship card:

TE Share Joy Challenge #55

Let’s break down the card:

I heat-embossed the sentiment from Toe-tally Awesome combining it with die-cut ice cream cones created with the Little Bits – Ice Cream Cone die. I added patterned paper from TE 6×6 Paper Pack – Hello Happiness (from which I took my color cues) and put everything on to a dry-embossed background created with the Embossing Folder – Lots of Dots.

CAS Watercolored Halloween Cat + Pumpkin – Penny Black Simplicity

Hello! Today, I’m sharing a CAS Halloween card featuring the Penny Black 30-318 Bewitched stamp set.

First of all, a confession. I’ve had this stamp set on my work table for a month. Last week, I looked at the set and mentally thought, “Darn it, I meant to make a card with that before Halloween,” thinking Halloween had already passed! How nuts is that?! That’s what happens when you’re working on projects a season ahead. Thank goodness October is still out there!

Back to the card, I stamped the cat and pumpkin image with VersaFine ink on Strathmore watercolor paper, coloring him with watercolor pencils and Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors. I fussy-cut the image and set it aside.

I sponged Mustard Seed Distress Ink  onto a card base through a vellum circle, and I stamped the cat image again on the sponged circle. I adhered the fussy-cut cat to the image with foam adhesive. I die cut the “BOO” sentiment with 51-077 Eeek! from foam and white cardstock, adding it to a dark gray cardstock strip. To finish off the card, I stamped and die cut the bat with 30-249 Spooky Spheres and 51-075 Boo Crew.
