Tim Holtz | Mixed Media Poinsettias

Hello! Today, I am sharing a mixed media Christmas card created with several Tim Holtz products including the Festive Bouquet die set. The items for which I have listed product links below are in bold.

Tim Holtz | Mixed Media Poinsettias

  • To begin, I sprayed Watercolor paper with Distress Ink Sprays in Barn Door, Mowed Lawn, and Mustard Seed. I like the vibrancy of the Distress Ink Sprays. I have never used Distress Ink Oxide Sprays, although I have some in one of my online shopping carts!
  • Once the watercolor paper was dry, I cut the poinsettia pieces with the Festive Bouquet die set and assembled the elements.
  • I stamped the Simple Sayings sentiment in Potting Soil on off-white cardstock that has flecks in it. (I am not sure where I got this cardstock from; it might have been My Favorite Things in a sample pack.)
  • I trimmed the sentiment panel and added it to a Paper Bag card base.
  • I adhered the poinsettias and greenery to the card front.

Tim Holtz | Mixed Media Holiday Card

Hello! Today, I am sharing a mixed-media holiday card created with a variety of Tim Holtz supplies.

  • For the card background, I cut textured green cardstock from the Botanical pack and added it to an A2 card base.
  • I stamped the Tiny Text Christmas sentiment on light-green cardstock, also from the Botanical pack.
  • I added Snowfall Distress Grit Paste through the Pinecones stencil on to the sentiment panel (masking the sentiment area before the application). Once dry, I trimmed the panel, matted it with Brushed Gold cardstock, and added it to the card base.
  • To create the alcohol ink background paper for the bird, I read this blog post by Stacy Hutchinson and watched the video contained in this blog post by Tim Holtz. I used Gold Mixative, Mineral Pearls, and Sienna alcohol inks as that is what I had on hand.
  • Once the alcohol ink background was dry, I cut the bird with a die in the Silhouette Birds set.
  • I cut the bough from the darker shade of textured green cardstock using a die in the Mini Holiday Greens set. I added Snowfall Distress Grit Paste to the pine needles and sprinkled on Dry Glitter – Clear Rock Candy.
  • I added the bird and bough to the card and embellished with Gold Mix Gems.

Lawn Fawn | Deck the Car Take 2

Hello! Today I am sharing two versions of a holiday card showcasing the Lawn Fawn Deck the Car die set. I previously shared a card created with the Deck the Car set here.

Lawn Fawn | Deck the Car

  • For both cards, I stamped the Simply Winter Sentiments sentiment on white cardstock and cut the top with a die in the Simply Stitched Hillside Borders set to create a snowbank.
  • I cut the cars and trees with the Deck the Car die set from white cardstock and cardstock inked with Lumberjack Plaid, Rustic Wilderness, Picked Raspberry, Mowed Lawn, and Black Soot.
  • On one of the backgrounds, I inked white cardstock with Peacock Feathers and applied Distress Grit Paste – Snowfall paste through the trees stencil of the Birch Tree set (there is one stencil for the trees and another for the space between the trees). On the other background, I inked white cardstock with Peacock Feathers and Uncharted Mariner (at the top) using the space between the trees stencil of the Birch Tree set. I then stenciled the trees with Distress Grit Paste – Snowfall paste through the tree stencil of the set.
  • Once the stenciled panels were dry, I added them to card bases. I added the snowbanks to the bottom and popped the assembled cars up with foam adhesive.
  • I added snowflakes, which I cut from cardstock to which I applied the Distress Grit Paste – Snowfall paste and let dry, with the Mini Snowflakes dies. I am not sure I would make glitter cardstock in this manner again as it is quite difficult to die cut.

Sizzix | Snow Family

Hello! Today, I am sharing a winter-themed card showcasing the Sizzix Snow Family die set (suitable for a number of occasions beyond the winter holidays). I am noticing that the snowman has been a popular theme this year across manufacturers.

  • To create the background, I inked a Sea Glass cardstock panel with white pigment ink through the Lawn Fawn Snowflake Background stencil set (there are two stencils in the set, I used both, one at a time).
  • I stamped the MFT sentiment (now retired) in Gray Flannel ink on white cardstock and trimmed the top of the panel with the Color Block Scenic Scape die to make a snowbank.
  • I attached the snowbank to the background panel and added the assembly to a card base.
  • I cut the snow people, bird, and snowballs with the Snow Family die set from variety of cardstock colors and finishes and assembled them.
  • I added the snow people, bird, and snowballs to the card and accessorized with snowflakes cut from glitter cardstock with the Mini Snowflakes die set.
