Hello Fall in the Pacific Northwest

Today, I’m sharing a just-for-fun card depicting a typical scene in my neck of the woods, with some artistic license, of course! We’re surrounded by beautiful pine/fir/cedar forest and a scene with a blue sky, evergreen background, and a picket fence isn’t uncommon.

I stylized this scene with a black cat and pumpkins!

Hello Fall in the Pacific Northwest

I cut everything twice and attached the two layers with the 2-Way Glue Pen. I also used dimensional adhesive on the cat and a few of the pumpkins to create even more depth. Hope you’re having a wonderful fall (or perhaps spring?) day!

Supplies: Stampin’ Up sentiment; Stampin’ Up Baked Brown Sugar cardstock; Stampin’ Up dimensional adhesive; Impression Obsession dies: Fir Tree Border, Pumpkin Patch, Picket Fence, Cat Set, Clouds

ColourQ Challenge 261

I’m playing along with this week’s ColourQ Challenge. Another wonderful color combination for the fall!

ColourQ Challenge 261

I used a Lawn Fawn notecard measuring 3 1/2 x 4 7/8 for the card base. The leaves were adhered with dimensional foam to circles which were cut with the MFT Peek-a-Boo die. My original design was going to use the frame from that die, but lining up the three circles seemed too forced and rigid.

Supplies: Lawn Fawn Notecards; Lawn Fawn Stitched Leaves dies; Lawn Fawn Argyle Backdrops stamp set; MFT Peek-a-Boo Trio die

ColourQ Challenge #260

Today I’m sharing a card created for colourQ challenge #260.

This is such a delightful color combination for the fall. I grew up in Denver; the Broncos football team colors are orange and blue. I had at least one school outfit that was pumpkin and navy!

ColourQ260The branches, from a Taylored Expressions die set, were cut from a woodgrain textured cardstock. I double cut the birds, (from the same TE set), adhered them together and put them onto the branches with dimensional adhesive. The navy background was cut with a Lil’ Inker stitched rectangle die. The sentiment, from a Taylored Expressions stamp set, was heat embossed.

Happy Fall: Die Cut Truck and Leaves

This morning during my walk, I saw a lovely leaf dance. Soon there will be piles of leaves in our yard. I’m sharing a card depicting a fall scene in the Pacific Northwest. When the leaves have fallen from the deciduous trees, we still have our evergreen backdrop.

The new Impression Obsession fall release has some terrific dies. I took some artistic liberties by pairing the die cut leaves with the truck! Those are some huge leaves! To add the leaves, I die cut a circle, which I trimmed just below the center line. I added a base layer of leaves to which I then kept adding leaves, attaching them with the Zig Memory Two-Way Fine Tip Pen.

I have a new post over in the CLASSroom at Ellen Hutson’s on Die Cutting Techniques. One of the die cutting techniques I explore is window die cuts. I took the Spooky Window card shown in the post one step further placing the window, embossed with a Hero Arts sentiment, on a Distress-inked background panel.
