CAS Christmas Tree – Impression Obsession Christmas Tree Cutout

Hello! Today, I am sharing a CAS Christmas card created with supplies that I’ve owned for some time. In fact, I first used (it’s possible it was the only time I used) the Impression Obsession Christmas Tree Cutout die in this post for Ellen Hutson in 2014. I like revisting my supplies and finding new designs on which to use them.

  • I white heat-embossed one of my favorite sentiments (from the now-retired Hero Arts Operation Write Home Winter Wishes set) on Taylored Expressions Blue Raspberry cardstock. I cut the panel with a stitched rectangle die.
  • I cut the Impression ObsessionChristmas Tree Cutout tree using the outline die from Poppy Parade cardstock and again with both the outline die and detail die from white cardstock. I glued the two together.
  • I stamped the Hero Arts Candy Stripes background with Lady Bug ink.

I like the whimsy of the Christmas tree, reinforced with the colors and the striped card background. Thanks for stopping by!

Hello Fall! Die-Cut Scene

Hello! Today, I’m sharing a die-cut fall scene created with a variety of die cuts.

Hello Fall Die-Cut Scene

I couldn’t wait to use the Poppystamps Patient Pup die (I’ve professed my love for similar dies in the past). This scene was inspired by our beloved Golden Retriever “Ginger.” She would not have been this patient, however, with squirrels in the yard! This card combines some of my favorite card making elements: lots of color, die-cuts and a heat-embossed sentiment.

Supplies: Stampin’ Up sentiment, Impression Obsession: Clouds, Oak Leaves and Rake, Fir Tree Border, Picket Fence; Poppystamps Frisky Squirrels, Patient Pup

Hollyhock Bouquet

In most cases, I create cards with the end in mind, or at least a vague idea. Such was not the case with this card, which grew to be quite tall!

Impression Obsession | Hollyhock Bouquet

My inspiration for this card comes from Dina Kowal. She’s both a designer for Impression Obsession and a member of their design team. She shared a card recently combining the Hollyhock and Mason Jar dies.

I cut white cardstock with the Hollyhock die several times, and colored the flowers with Copics. I’ve never colored die cuts with Copics before, but I have to say it’s certainly easy and you can get the colors you want! I used the Mason Jar die to cut a piece of patterned paper that I colored with a Copic to add shading along the sides. I added a shadow under the mason jar with an Amuse Studios set. The sentiment comes from the Hero Arts “All Occasion Messages” set. The sentiment says “Hello Friend.” I simply cut it in two, as I find myself frequently needing a little sentiment to fit onto tiny tags (this tag was cut with a punch). The background paper is Strathmore 140lb cold press watercolor paper. For this card, I wanted something off-white with a little bit of texture. I buy the Strathmore paper in a big pad and cut it down to size.
