Elizabeth Craft | Gnome Valentine

Hello! After the creating the Valentine’s Day card roundup, which you can see HERE, and rediscovering treasures in my crafting supplies, I was inspired to create a new card for the holiday. Picture a charming gnome on top of a cart brimming with hearts paired with a sentiment that reads “Loads of Love.”

    • To begin, create sentiment on your computer and print. Trim to an A2-size panel and apply Distress Oxide inks in Hickory Smoke and Tumbled Glass to establish the ground and sky. Attach panel to a card base.
    • Apply Distress Oxide inks to Soft Finish Cardstock and cut pieces for the Gnome (I used the Farmer set for the eyes), Hay Ride (trailer), and hearts (various die sets listed below). Assemble the gnome and the trailer. (Note: I used a 1/2″ circle die to cut part of the wheel assembly.)
    • Add die-cut hearts to trailer. I added the hearts on the bottom row first, then I put the trailer on to the card base and filled the cart until I was happy with the amount.
    • Add gnome to cart.

You can see a similar autumn-themed card with several of the same Elizabeth Craft Designs supplies HERE.

CottageCutz | Gnome on Skis

Hello! As you may have read, I am focusing on winter-themed cards to extend the season of the cute stamps and dies that are holiday-related. A skiing gnome adds a whimsical and charming touch to a card suitable for a variety of occasions including a winter birthday or friendship card. There is something endearing about a gnome navigating the slopes (or is he?)!

Cottage Cutz | Gnome on Skis

I have had the CottageCutz Skiing Gnomes die set for quite some time and it was gathering dust. As such, I am entering the card in the NBUS Challenge #57 (Never-Before-Used-Schtuff). The die set is still available directly from Scrapping Cottage or from Frantic Stamper.

    • To begin, I created an A2-size card base from Light Brown Woodgrain cardstock.
    • Next, I cut the gnome from a variety of cardstock colors and assembled him. There is no die in the set for the eyes or the mouth. I created the eyes using a die in the Impression Obsession Santa Mug die set and the mouth using a die in an older Taylored Expressions Little Bits set.
    • I used one of the Impression Obsession Tree Line dies to create the back of the landscape.
    • I stamped the sentiment in VersaFine ink using a stamp in the Stampin’ Up Snowbody Better set (the set is from several years ago, and I have never used it before) on to Snowdrift cardstock. I cut the top of the stamped panel measuring 3 1/2″ wide with a die in the MFT Snow Drifts die set (now retired). I cut another snowdrift panel with the other die in the same set.
    • I assembled the three landscape layers – tree line, snowdrift, and snowdrift with sentiment – and added the assembly (measuring 3 1/2″ wide by 4 3/4″ tall) to patterned paper. That assembly was added to the card base. Finally, I added the gnome with foam adhesive.

Spellbinders | Cruising into Christmas Cheer

Get ready to smile, because here comes Santa… in gnome form! As the holiday season draws near, we’re steering into the festive spirit with a card featuring the Spellbinders Gnome Drive Holiday die set, part of the Gnome Drive Collection. The charming gnome dressed for Christmas has taken the wheel of a red velvet sports car.

I paired the Gnome Drive Holiday set with a glimmer-foiled sentiment from the Glitter Wishes set in gold, cut with a snowbank die in the Warm Wishes Camper set. As I discussed in this post – “Prepping for Christmas Card Making” – this set of sentiment foil plates was one of my most used.

To create texture, I dry-embossed gray cardstock with the Stargazer folder for the background and added it to a card base. Note: unless otherwise stated, my cards are A2-size.

Once the gnome, car, package, and tree assembly were in place, I embellished the card with snowflakes cut from white glitter foam.

Spellbinders | Gnome in the Haunted Fast Lane

Hello! Imagine a Halloween gnome driving a sports car. I have brought that scene to life showcasing the new Spellbinders Gnome Drive Holiday and Halloween die sets. Gnome-themed designs are appealing and combining a gnome with a sports car on a Halloween card adds a fun twist.

The Halloween add-on die is one of several themed sets in the Gnome Drive Collection. The die set includes a cat, a ghost with a witch’s hat, a witch’s hat for the gnome, and a pumpkin balloon. I have paired the focal image with the sentiment – “Love you ’til the end” from the Dancin’ Halloween Sentiments set.
