Hello! I am delighted to be a guest on the Spellbinders blog featuring two cards created with the recently-released Trim the Tree Collection, which includes dies, glimmer plates, and a stencil that work together or separately. I created the cards with a three-step approach: create the background, create the focal point(s), and embellish. Head to the post for all of the details!

Spellbinders August 2021 Large Die Kit Club
Hello crafty friends! I’m delighted to share a slimline friendship card created with the Spellbinders August 2021 Large Die of the Month “Hex Kaleidoscope Slimline.” Find out more about this set here.
I combined the Large Die of the Month set with this month’s Clear Stamp of the Month Club “Hex Tile Stamps.” To celebrate a new month, I chose a color palette of yellow and shades of orange.
- I created a card base from Onyx cardstock.
- I cut a frame from Snowdrift cardstock using the two large dies in the set. I used one of the kaleidoscope hex shapes to cut out the center hex (to frame the sentiment).
- I heat-embossed the Clear Stamp of the Month Club sentiment in white on to dark orange cardstock and trimmed the piece to fit behind the center open hex.
- I backed the open frame with dark orange cardstock. I used the detail frame to cut yellow cardstock and inlaid those tiles into the frame.
- To create the kaleidoscopes, I die-cut the top from Snowdrift cardstock, the next layer from light orange cardstock, and the bottom layer from the same dark orange cardstock. I fussy-cut hex shapes from Onyx cardstock and glued the kaleidoscopes.
- Once the frame was added to a mat and the card base, I embellished with small blooms cut with a die in the Special Delivery set.
Spellbinders – ‘Tis the Season
Fa la la! Today I am sharing a slimline Christmas card featuring products from the just-released ‘Tis the Season Collection at Spellbinders. With this card, the Gifts of Christmas sentiment was the starting point – “Christmas Is Better When We Are Together.” I figured I needed several vehicles headed in the same direction to be together for the holidays!
- I glimmer-foiled the Gifts of Christmas sentiment in silver on to a black cardstock panel.
- After masking the sentiment, I stenciled silver paste through the Layered Christmas Tree stencil.
- I die-cut the snowy hills from glitter cardstock with the dies in the Color Block Scenic Scape set. Once the background was dry, the snow banks were added.
- I die-cut the vehicles with the Special Delivery die set; they were assembled with the inlay technique.
- I added trees to the top of two of the vehicles created with the Bottle Brush Trees set and packages to the center car using the Shopping Spree set.
Penny Black – Dream & Discover – Tropical Paradise
Hello (Aloha)! Penny Black has just released a new collection -“Dream & Discover.” I am sharing a summer-themed card created with two of the products in the release – 51-643 Tropical Paradise and 30-844 At Ease.
- I used the Spellbinders July 2021 Large Die of the Month “Mini Slimline Envelope and Nested Card Creator” to create the card base and backed it with black cardstock.
- I cut the 51-643 Tropical Paradise beach silhouette scene from black cardstock and backed it with a circle colored with Distress Oxide Inks.
- I stamped the 30-844 At Ease sentiment on to cardstock colored with Distress Oxide Ink and cut it with a circle die.
- I die-cut the 51-643 Tropical Paradise hibiscus and foliage from cardstock colored with Distress Oxide Inks and added them to a circle also colored with ink.
- I added the three circles to the card base.
Penny Black – Paws and Relax
Hello! Today I am sharing a card showcasing the 30-832 Paws and Relax stamp set from the Stamping With Scooter release at Penny Black. Today Scooter heads to the spa for some pampering!
- I stamped the images and colored them with Copic markers and colored pencils. There is another image in the 30-832 Paws and Relax set, which was too large for this circle size. I plan to use that image as a standalone on another card.
- I stamped the images again on to Masking Magic paper. I fussy-cut the images, applied the masks to the colored images, and sponged Tumbled Glass and Antique Linen to the images.
- I cut the images with a 2-1/2 inch circle die, from the Hero Arts Infinity Dies set.
- I stamped the sentiment on to SU Flirty Flamingo cardstock, cut to a slimline size, and attached the images.
