Spellbinders July Clubs Blog Hop

Hello! Today, I am delighted to be participating in a blog hop along with other papercrafters sharing projects created with the Spellbinders July 2020 Club Subscriptions. You should have reached me from the blog of Joy Baldwin. (The entire list of participants is included at the end of my post.) For the hop, I created two cards showcasing the July Small Die of the Month kit from Spellbinders – “Ornamental Floral Card Creator.” I shared two other cards created with this set in this post.

To celebrate this release, Spellbinders is giving away a $50 gift certificate to three blog readers – selected from the comments on the Spellbinders blog. Hop along for additional chances to win. Giveaway closes on Sunday, July 26th, 11:59 pm EDT. The winner will be announced in the blog hop post the following Tuesday. The winner is responsible for shipping cost, duties and taxes.

My cards are similar in design; both combine the Small Die of the Month set with foiled sentiments from the Stylish Script Collection. On the first card, I foiled the Beautiful Ride sentiment and surrounded it with a frame, blossoms, foliage, and small flowers cut with the Small Die of the Month set.

Because the petals are the same color as the flower’s outline, inlaying the petals was easy. I simply added tape on the back when I first cut the shape. I glued the foliage pieces before adding leaves cut from Brush Gold.

Spellbinders July Clubs Blog HopOn my second card, I foiled a sentiment from the For You set. This time, I simplified the floral clusters (eliminating the one in the upper-left corner) and added more small flowers cut from Brush Gold.

Spellbinders July 2020 Small Die – Ornamental Floral Card Creator

Hello and Happy July!  Today I am sharing two cards created with the July Small Die of the Month kit from Spellbinders – “Ornamental Floral Card Creator.” The card designs are quite similar; I’m showing two orientations and two color combinations.

  • To begin, I cut two arched panels, which I glued together to create a frame.
  • I heat-embossed the sentiment on to a rectangular panel to which I glued the frame.
  • I cut the flowers using the two large flower dies in the set. On one of the flowers, I trimmed off the foliage. On another of the flowers, I trimmed off part of the foliage.
  • I used the inlaid technique for the flower centers, petals, and leaves.
  • I added the assembled flowers to the panel.
  • I added flat sequins to the panel as embellishment.

Spellbinders June Club Kits – Another Look

Hello!  Today I am sharing two friendship cards created with the June Small Die of the Month and Large Die of the Month sets from Spellbinders. I previously shared a card featuring the Small Die of the Month here and a card featuring the Large Die of the Month here.

On the first card I used dies from both of the sets on the floral frame. I attached the assembled flowers and foliage to the frame, which is included in the Large Die set. The frame surrounds a large stamped sentiment (from a now-retired set from Simon Says Stamp).

On the second card I used dies from the Small Die of the Month exclusively, using two of the three flower shapes in the set. Once the assembled flowers were on the panel, excess stems, foliage, and bloom were trimmed from the side and the bottom. (The large sentiment is from the same now-retired set from Simon Says Stamp.)

Spellbinders June 2020 Small Die – Handing You a Smile

Hello and Happy June!  Today I am sharing a CAS friendship card created with the June Small Die of the Month kit from Spellbinders – “Handing You a Smile.”

On my card, I used two of the three flower shapes in the set. I repeated the poppy-like floral in yellow and red and added the other flower in a warm orange, which I envisioned as a poppy from a different perspective (as in looking directly into the center).

  • I heat-embossed the sentiment on SU Island Indigo cardstock (now retired).
  • I cut the flowers from TE Lemon Meringue, SU Tangerine Tango (now retired), and SU Poppy Parade. The poppies in yellow and red consist of four die-cut pieces; I really like the detail the dies provide.
  • I added the flower centers cut from Whip Cream cardstock. The set includes several options for the centers. Since I was depicting the same flower, I used the same center.
  • I cut the stems and leaf from SU Cucumber Crush (now retired).
  • I cut the hand and the hand base and adhered them together.
  • I added the flowers to the card base positioning the flowers in the hand.

  • To create my CAS card, I used two of the dies in the May Small Die of the Month set to cut detailed borders. The dies can be lined up together and cut simultaneously in a variety of combinations. I cut the borders from three different cardstock colors.
  • I lined the backs of the die-cut borders with Whip Cream cardstock.
  • I heat-embossed the sentiment in silver on to Whip Cream cardstock.

  • I added the Butterfly Frame die-cut, cut three times for additional dimension, to the top of the card as a focal point.
  • I assembled the card by adhering the panels on to a card base, starting with the bottom layer first.
  • At the point where the white panel meets the pink detailed border, I added a thin strip of Whip Cream cardstock.
