colourQ challenge #263

I’m playing along with colourQ challenge #263 this week with a Halloween-themed card.

The Taylored Expressions Neighborhood reminds me of a nearby neighborhood to which I like to walk. It’s not far away from a park in which there’s a “Fright Night” held each year, and tonight is their opening night.

After heat embossing the SU sentiment, I backed the windows with orange and yellow strips. I added a strip of polka-dot patterned paper at the bottom for a bit of visual contrast.

Supplies: Stampin’ Up Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight; Stampin’ Up Ghoulish Greetings; Taylored Expressions Neighborhood Border; Memory Box Ghost Trio

ColourQ Challenge #260

Today I’m sharing a card created for colourQ challenge #260.

This is such a delightful color combination for the fall. I grew up in Denver; the Broncos football team colors are orange and blue. I had at least one school outfit that was pumpkin and navy!

ColourQ260The branches, from a Taylored Expressions die set, were cut from a woodgrain textured cardstock. I double cut the birds, (from the same TE set), adhered them together and put them onto the branches with dimensional adhesive. The navy background was cut with a Lil’ Inker stitched rectangle die. The sentiment, from a Taylored Expressions stamp set, was heat embossed.

End of Summer – Relax!

Today I’m sharing a card celebrating summer – the idea of taking a break and relaxing, possibly traveling someplace with palm trees! – featuring new Impression Obsession dies, as well as other dies in my collection.

End of Summer - Relax!

I cut the Woody multiple times with a variety of cardstocks including woodgrain, birch and vellum, to provide texture and color. The sentiment is from the Taylored Expressions’ Hangin’ Out – At the Beach stamp set.

Supplies: Impression Obsession Woody with Surfboard and Palm Trees; Lawn Fawn Spring Showers; TE Build-a-Scene – Rolling Hills dies and  Hangin’ Out – At the Beach stamp set

The Cutting Edge Challenge #8

It’s time for another Cutting Edge Challenge! Our inspiration this week is an amazing card created by Design Team member Kay Miller.

Here’s my take on her card:

The Cutting Edge Challenge #8

I was drawn the colors in Kay’s card, as well as the idea of foliage providing structure to the design. I used small birds in lieu of the flowers. I also substituted a white card panel on a blue base for her blue panel on a white base.

Supplies: Taylored Expressions die, Hero Arts sentiment
