A WOW Birthday

Hello! Today I am sharing a CAS birthday card in bright colors (for whatever reason I’m drawn to bright colors this past week). Let’s take a look.

A WOW Birthday

  • To begin, I die-cut the Paper Smooches balloons, the balloon strings (retired Taylored Expressions set), and the MFT Stamps WOW sentiment. I chose colors (Simon Says Stamp Lipstick Red and SU Daffodil Delight; I don’t know the manufacturer of the orange cardstock) to coordinate with the Echo Park patterned paper.
  • I heat-embossed the birthday sentiment on SU Tempting Turquoise cardstock. The sentiment panel and patterned paper panel were cut to be equal height so that the WOW letters were positioned between the two.
  • I assembled the papers on to a larger piece of white cardstock.  I then adhered the WOW letters with dot adhesive and the balloons (which I assembled with liquid adhesive) to the panel with foam adhesive.
  • The panel was added to a linen-textured card base.

Thanks for stopping by!

CAS Geometric Die-cut Birthday Card

Hello! Today, I am sharing a CAS birthday card created with dies. I have been looking at quilt patterns lately. I don’t quilt, but it’s a craft I have considered taking up. Although this card isn’t quilt-themed, I used color and repetition (used a lot in quilting) in its design.

  • For the background, I cut white cardstock with the Lil’ Inker Designs 4.25″ square die and dry-embossed the square with the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder from Stampin Up’.
  • I cut the My Favorite Things Block Happy Birthday sentiment from Stampin Up’ cardstock and adhered the letters to the square with glue.
  • I used a now retired Avery Elle die to cut the rounded diamond shapes from Stampin Up’ colored cardstock. I cut the shapes in the corners in half. I adhered the pieces to the card base with Scotch Dot Roller adhesive.

Frog-themed Birthday Card

Hello! Today, I am sharing a card created for a special crafty friend who likes frogs. She customizes her handmade cards based on the recipients’ interests, professions, etc. and the ideas that she has shared sound amazing. I had been mulling over different winter birthday ideas (such as Happy BRRRthday) but threw them out the window and went with the frog theme instead.

I figured if you like frogs, the more the merrier! I used patterned paper from my stash for the background within the Avery Elle Photo Mat as well as for the card base. The MFT sentiment is not from a birthday set, but I thought it would be a fun one to use.

Spellbinders Exquisite Splendor Collection by Marisa Job

Hello! Today I am sharing two projects created with the recently-introduced Spellbinders Exquisite Splendor Collection by Marisa Job – beautiful botanical dies that can be used for a number of occasions including birthdays and weddings! I used the Tulip Flower Frame Card Creator die set to create the background for both of my CAS cards. Let’s take a look.

On my first project, I began by cutting the card panel with the rectangle die in the Tulip Flower Frame Card Creator set, (the set includes an A2 size 4.25 x 5.50 in. outline frame and an intricate tulip design insert), from Whip Creme cardstock. I then cut the tulip design from the A2 panel. I did this a second time and adhered the layers together. I backed the assembly with coral cardstock. I used the tulip design to cut soft blue, soft yellow, and soft gray pieces which I adhered to the coral base with glue. Having the two layers makes this technique easy!

I dry-embossed a strip of soft yellow cardstock with the Beach Towel embossing folder and added a sentiment stamped with the Every Moment stamp set, cut with a Spellbinders circle die.

My second project is of a similar design, and I followed the same steps as for my first card. I created the sentiment with the Happy Birthday Banner, another die set in the Exquisite Splendor Collection.

I adhered the sentiment letters to a single piece of floss with liquid adhesive and attached the ends of the strings to the back of the dry-embossed strip, which was then adhered to the card base.

It’s a Dog Party! – Penny Black Simplicity

Hello! Today, I’m sharing a colorful birthday card featuring the Penny Black #30-368 Love Me stamp set.

Penny Black Simplicity Dog Party

I was inspired by the final scene in the book Go, Dog. Go! where the colorful dogs have a party. (One of my favorite scenes as a child!)

I stamped the punny sentiment on to a cloud die cut with #51-003 Silver Linings set and added balloons cut with #51-004 Uplifting to fill the white space in the sky (and balance out the color on the card).
