Newton’s Nook Cup of Cocoa

Hello! Today, I am sharing a winter-themed card created with the Newton’s Nook Cup of Cocoa stamp set. I just could not resist this set and plan to use it again this upcoming fall and winter.

I stamped several of the hot beverage options and colored the images with Copic markers and colored pencils.

For the background, I stamped the sentiment and applied Tumbled Glass and Hickory Smoke inks to the background with a Clarity Brush. The card base was dry-embossed with a Taylored Expressions embossing folder.

Newton’s Nook – Snow Day

Hello! As I mentioned in a previous post, I’ve been trying to embrace winter and create winter-themed cards as long as I can. (I have yet to put away my Christmas stamps and dies!) Today’s card features images and a sentiment from Newton’s Nook Designs Snow Day stamp set (now retired). I posted a card created with another image from this same set in November.

I stamped the rabbit and penguin images and colored them with Copic markers and colored pencils. I applied embossing paste to the background through the Simon Says Stamp Falling Snow stencil after stamping the sentiment. I wanted to keep layers to a minimum, so I used the MFT Drifts & Hills stencil to create a snow bank by applying several Distress Inks. The embossing paste resisted the ink. For the card base, I used a paper from the Lawn Fawn Knit Picky pad. The patterns in this pad are winter-themed rather than specifically Christmas.

Watercolored Snow Day

Hello! Today I am sharing a CAS card featuring one of the images from the Newton’s Nook Designs Snow Day stamp set (now retired). I have never before stamped any images in this set (and I purchased it in 2013!).

I stamped and heat-embossed the dog image on Canson Montval watercolor paper and colored it with a combination of Distress Inks and Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors.

Once the image was dry, I cut it with a die in the Stitched Square Stackables – Large set. I heat-embossed a sentiment from the Snow Globe Sentiments set and cut it with a die in the Everyday Sentiment Banners set. I used the Stitched Woodgrain Backdrop die to create the card background. Once assembled, I realized there was a critical missing detail – snowflakes! I used the Snow Caps set to die-cut snowflakes from the watercolor paper.
