Penny Black | Dance in the Rain

Hello! Today I am sharing a friendship card created with Penny Black supplies featuring a water-colored image from the Dance in the Rain stamp set. This set was introduced in June 2021. It has been a while (several years!) since I have colored with watercolors.

Penny Black | Dance in the Rain

  • Stamp Dance in the Rain image with VersaFine ink on Arches Cold Pressed Watercolor Pad.
  • Color image with Gansai Tambi paints. I used 44 brown, 63 blue, 32 red, 43 yellow, 54 green, 35 pink, 20 black.
  • Stamp image on to masking paper and fussy cut. Once image is dry, add mask to image and apply Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink for sky and Mowed Lawn for the ground. Cut with circle in the Hero Arts set.
  • Create card background from patterned paper and attach to A2-size card base.
  • Cut Dream Big sentiment twice (for extra depth). I like this sentiment a lot and think it pairs nicely with the dogs sharing an umbrella.
  • Add sentiment and image circle to background; embellish with enamel dots (Taylored Expressions brand shown).

I have shared projects created with the collection here, here, and here. I guess the cold and damp January weather has me thinking about bundling up in a quilt! Scroll past the project photos for a new Spellbinders promotion.

Lawn Fawn | Winter Cabin Take Two

Hello! Today I am sharing a winter-themed card showcasing the Lawn Fawn Build-a-Cabin die set. This combination of elements works for a variety of occasions including Christmas or friendship. I previously shared a card featuring this die set here. On the card I am sharing today, I changed the orientation, the sentiment, and the color scheme.

Lawn Fawn | Winter Cabin

  • Create A2-size card base from navy cardstock.
  • Cut Snow Flurries Backdrop from white cardstock. Add strip of white cardstock to the bottom of the navy cardstock for snow. Glue Snow Flurries Backdrop to base. Previously, I have tucked the card elements under the snow frame. Given the number of elements, I decided to have the snow frame take a back seat and added the elements above the frame.
  • Cut Build-a-Cabin pieces from Light Brown Woodgrain, Chocolate Bar, dark brown, brushed silver, yellow, gray, and white cardstock. I used the Build-a-House Christmas Add On to cut a doorknob. Assemble cabin; cover back of windows and door with the yellow cardstock.
  • Stamp Snowball Fight sentiment in black on Noble Fir cardstock and cut with die in the Everyday Sentiment Banners set; add to card.
  • Cut evergreen trees from white and Noble Fir cardstock with dies in the Forest Backdrop set; assemble.
  • Apply Snowfall Grit Paste to cabin roof and trees; set aside to dry.
  • Add assembled Build-a-Cabin and trees, using foam adhesive as necessary for depth.

Spellbinders | CAS Anemone Blooms

Hello! Today, I am sharing a CAS friendship card to showcase products in the Spellbinders Anemone Blooms Collection designed by Yana Smakula. I previously shared a card using products from the collection here.

Spellbinders | CAS Anemone Blooms

  • Cut Anemones from Phone Booth cardstock. Tape bloom pieces from the back. (I found that if I only made one pass with the cutting machine and carefully removed the die-cut, I was able to keep the bloom pieces in the frame.)
  • Cut center pieces from Onyx cardstock with the Anemones die. Insert centers into floral clusters.
  • Cut outline of Anemones from Snowdrift cardstock and adhere to floral piece.
  • Glimmer foil sentiment with plate in the Inside Card Glimmer Sentiments set in Opaque Black on a Sea Glass cardstock panel. The messages in the set work on both the front and inside of cards. Trim panel to 4 inches x 5 1/4 inches.
  • Add assembled anemones to panel and embellish with Silver Mix Gems.
